On November 4, Great Wall Motor released October production and sales figures. According to the data, Great Wall sold 100208 vehicles in October, down 10.58 per cent from a year earlier. The cumulative sales from January to October were 902521, down 9.4 per cent from a year earlier. So far, Great Wall only completed 47.5% of its annual sales of 1.9 million vehicles in the previous October, meaning it is almost impossible for Great Wall to meet its annual target of 1.9 million vehicles.

In terms of brand segmentation, only Harvard and tank brands have achieved growth in Great Wall's five major brands, while the other three major brands have declined, of which WEY Wei and Euler brands have halved. At present, the Harvard brand remains the backbone of Great Wall car sales, rising 1.86 per cent to 63759 vehicles in October from a year earlier, with only a slight increase. On the specific model, the official only announced that the "national magic car" Harvard H6 increased by 28.48% year-on-year to 35127 units, accounting for 55.09% of the total sales of the Harvard brand.

According to the Great Wall Automotive website, the main selling models of the Harvard brand currently include Harvard H6, Harvard Dog, Harvard Divine Beast, Harvard Red Rabbit, Harvard first Love and Harvard H9, etc., but after entering 2022, none of the above models showed amazing performance, and many of the main models even showed a year-on-year decline. Taking the data of new car traffic insurance from January to September 2022 as an example, the cumulative sales of Harvard H6 fell 34.59% year-on-year to 170503, Harvard Dog 12.86% year-on-year to 63003, Harvard M7 down 58.91% to 48045, Harvard H9 down 24.92% to 8191, Harvard first love fell 91.71% to 2034, Harvard Red Rabbit increased by 70.27% year-on-year to 21279, Harvard Beast was 32711. As a newly launched model, Haverku has sold only 2794 cars since its launch.

In terms of other brands, as the new energy vehicle brand of Great Wall, the sales of the Euler brand in October were 5572, down 57.90% from the same period last year. At present, the sales volume of Euler mainly comes from the Euler cat. However, the European customer acquisition model "Euler Lightning Cat" has been officially launched on October 31, and the new car has launched a total of models with a price range of 18.98-269800 yuan. The appearance of the new car is obviously different from that of the Euler cat series. In terms of power, there are three versions of single-motor two-wheel drive and double-motor four-wheel drive. According to officials, orders for new cars have reached 15305 in less than 24 hours on the market and are expected to account for part of the sales of the Euler brand when they are delivered.

WEY Wei Brand is the first high-end brand launched by Great Wall, but its sales performance is gradually declining. October was the biggest decline among all brands of Great Wall, with sales of only 2427 vehicles, a year-on-year drop of 58.54%. Although Wei Brand currently owns many models such as Mocha, Macchiato and lattes, consumers do not buy them. Take the new car traffic insurance data in September as an example, the PHEV of lattes was 752 and lattes sold 262. In the middle of last month, Wei Brand brand new medium and large SUV "Wei 80" appeared in the declaration catalog. not long after the new car was exposed, it attracted great attention from netizens because of its unique front face styling. Then, Wei Brand officials made the decision of "inviting netizens to innovate cars together". Whether the new car can be supported by consumers depends on the follow-up performance of the new car on the market.

Unlike other brands, tank brands are showing a gradual growth trend, with tanks being the biggest increase for Great Wall cars in October, up 28.17% from a year earlier to 12753 vehicles. According to the new car traffic insurance data, from January to September in 2022, the cumulative sales of tank 300s increased by 56.57% to 77892 units compared with the same period last year; however, the cumulative sales of tank 500s since its launch on March 18 are only 10036, in other words, the growth of tank brands depends more on tank 300s.

According to the brand sales announced by Great Wall Automobile, with the expansion of its subsidiary brand, Great Wall Motor has developed from relying solely on Harvard to a multi-brand coordinated attack car company. After entering 2022, the major brands of Great Wall Automobile have also launched a lot of new cars, including Tank 500, Wei Brand Dream, Haverku Dog, Harvard H6 hybrid model and Euler Lightning Cat, as well as high-end brand salon. However, the overall sales performance of Great Wall did not increase significantly, but declined. In terms of the above figures, the Harvard brand, the pillar of Great Wall sales, grew little, with only the tank brand growing year-on-year, while the rest almost showed a downward trend, especially the WEY Wei brand and Euler brand, which nearly halved.

On November 4, Cui Dongshu, secretary-general of the passenger car Market Information Joint Association, said that the overall development of China's car market this year is good. From January to September, the national car sales grew by more than 4% year-on-year, or 14% from October to December. The overall annual sales growth is about 7%, and the annual sales may exceed 28 million vehicles. Approaching the end of the year is the key to many auto companies' sprint for annual delivery targets, and it remains to be seen how Great Wall will perform in the next two months.
