On November 5, Ford Bronco Badland was officially unveiled at the 2022 Expo. According to previous reports, Ford Bronco may be introduced and made in China in 2023, but it is not certain whether it is Bronco or Bronco Sport model, the two models still have a big difference in styling design.

As a brand-new generation model, Ford Bronco returns to the design style of hard-core SUV. The new car adopts a square appearance, with retro round headlights extending to the through-type front grille. The words "Bronco" are directly embedded in the air intake grille, known as Ford version of "Wrangler".

The side of the body, the door, side/tail window and roof of the new car are detachable. The wheel arch is equipped with the standard black fender of the hard-core off-road vehicle. The rearview mirror is also designed on the A pillar, so that it will not be missing due to the disassembly of the door version. At the rear part, the new car adopts full size external spare tire, and the tail lamp groups on both sides are all LED light sources. In addition, the new car also offers a large number of personalized options, including different types of doors, modular steel bumpers with integrated winches, various front grille designs, roof racks, LED light strips and even a series of fenders.

In terms of interior, Ford Bronco can obviously feel the design atmosphere of the first generation Bronco. The whole central control adopts T-type layout. The new car is equipped with semi-LCD instrument panel and 12-inch central control display (standard 8 inches), built-in SYNC4 infotainment system, OTA online upgrade, off-road navigation (with more outdoor information), panoramic imaging system, etc. In addition, there are conventional air conditioning panels with physical buttons, shift handles, driving mode selections and knob-type transfer gear handles under the central control, but the layout of the two-door and four-door versions is slightly different. The difference is that the three-spoke steering wheel does not use the Ford logo, but uses a horse shape, which also adds a lot of wild genes to a certain extent.

In terms of power, Ford Bronco is equipped with 2.3T four-cylinder and 2.7T V6 engines, with maximum power of 270 hp, 310 hp and maximum torque of 420N·m and 542N·m respectively. It is matched with 7-speed manual gearbox and 10-speed automatic gearbox. It has two kinds of basic and advanced four-wheel drive systems. Bronco Sport is equipped with 2.0T four-cylinder and 1.5T three-cylinder engines, with maximum power of 245 hp, 181 hp, peak torque of 372 N·m and 257 N·m respectively. The transmission system is matched with 8-speed automatic gearbox. Structurally, both the two-door and four-door versions feature a traditional loadless construction with independent suspension at the front with Dana AdvanTEK differential and a Dana 44 AdvanTEK solid axle design at the rear with coil springs and five positioning links for increased stiffness and off-road control.

The Bronco was born in 1966, just four years after the Mustang, and both have names meaning "Mustang." The difference is that Ford Bronco focuses on the hard-core SUV market, while Ford Mustang focuses on the sports car market. In addition, the former refers to Mustang in the western United States, which is hard to tame. Therefore, Ford Bronco is called "fierce horse" by domestic fans. Unfortunately, the Ford Bronco did not develop as smoothly as the Ford Mustang. After launching the fourth generation model in the 1990s, it was discontinued only four years later, and the Ford Bronco gradually withdrew from the historical stage.

Until July 2020, 25 years later, the all-new Ford Bronco returns, bringing the classic two-door Bronco, four-door Bronco and compact 4×4 SUV Bronco Sport versions with 2.3T, 2.7T and 1.5T, 2.0T turbocharged engines. Ford Bronco currently sells for $32,295 - 73,780, according to its website.

As we all know, Ford Motor Co., Ltd. owns Jiangling Ford and Changan Ford joint ventures in China. In contrast, Changan Ford's sense of existence is significantly higher than Jiangling Ford. The former mainly focuses on the passenger car market, launching models including Mondeo, Explorer, Focus, etc., while the latter mainly relies on Ford commercial vehicles to maintain its market position, such as Quanshun, Fushun, Teshun and other models. As for whether Jiangling Ford will make Bronco two models domestically, further information has yet to be announced officially, but since these two models are built on the same platform as Ford Road Shaker, the probability of domestic production is still very high. At present, Chang 'an Ford is not very good in China. If Jiangling Ford can make these two models domestically, Jiangling Ford may surpass Chang' an Ford in brand reputation.

Whether Ford Bronco is made in China or not still has certain significance for Ford. At present, Ford brand presence in the country is not very strong. Take September data as an example, the highest sales model is Mondeo, 7329 vehicles, Explorer, Leader, Sharp, Leader are maintained at 2000 vehicles level, Fox, Forrest only sold about 1000 vehicles. That is to say, Ford lacks explosive products, it is difficult to maintain the development of the aftermarket only by Mondeo, and if Ford Bronco can be introduced to realize domestic production, it is still expected to improve the sound volume in China and further expand the product camp.

Whether from overseas or domestic market, Ford Bronco's competitors undoubtedly point to Jeep Wrangler, but if the price of parallel import is referred to, its price can even choose Land Rover Guard entry-level model, so the overall cost-performance performance is slightly lower. If domestic production is introduced in the future, competitiveness will also be improved accordingly. However, there are also markets that believe that as long as the official import price is right for the standard horse herder, it can already occupy a part of the market share, sometimes not the cheaper the better.
