AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)11/07 Report--
On November 7, SAIC announced sales of 503300 vehicles, down 13.54 percent from a year earlier, including 101800 new energy vehicles, up 32.19 percent, and 84100 overseas exports, down 3.31 percent from a year earlier, according to KuaiBao. In addition, a total of 4.2735 million vehicles were sold from January to October. An increase of 1.72% over the same period last year.
As a joint venture brand that once wrestled with North and South Volkswagen, SAIC GM has three major brands: Cadillac, Buick and Chevrolet, which also covers high-end, mainstream, middle and low-end markets, and has long been at the forefront of domestic passenger car sales. However, SAIC GM's influence has not been as good as it used to be in recent years. Data show that SAIC GM sold 119000 vehicles in October, down 9.85% from a year earlier, compared with 112000 in September, down 9.68% from a year earlier, the second consecutive month of decline. What's more, the decline in the past two months was greater than the cumulative decline, with cumulative sales of 972900 vehicles from January to October, down 5.90% from a year earlier.
In a decade, SAIC GM fell from the first place to the third place of Chinese automakers and was overtaken by FAW-Volkswagen and SAIC-Volkswagen. After entering 2022, SAIC GM was overtaken by BYD, Geely, Changan and other independent car companies, falling from second to sixth place.
It is understood that SAIC GM reached its sales peak of 1.999 million vehicles since its inception in 2017, second only to SAIC Volkswagen in the Chinese market. Since then, SAIC GM's market share has been declining, falling to 1.97 million in 2019, 1.6 million in 2018, 1.467 million in 2021 and 1.332 million in 2021, respectively. SAIC GM's cumulative annual sales in the first 10 months of 2022 were less than 1 million, to 973000 vehicles. Not surprisingly, 2022 will be the fifth consecutive year of decline for SAIC GM.
In sharp contrast to SAIC GM, SAIC-Volkswagen has maintained positive growth for three consecutive years since it crossed the 2 million-vehicle threshold in 2016, including 2.063 million in 2017 and 2.065 million in 2018. However, due to increased competition in the market, coupled with the epidemic and the impact of spare parts supply, SAIC-Volkswagen also declined in 2019, falling to 1.506 million in 2020 and 1.186 million in 2021, while cumulative sales in the first 10 months were 1.088 million, up 12.06 per cent from a year earlier.
SAIC Volkswagen has Audi, Volkswagen, Skoda three major brands, respectively, the layout of luxury, mainstream, low-end market, but except for the Volkswagen brand, the performance of the other two brands are not optimistic. Take Skoda as an example, its current models on sale include Kodiak, Komick, Krook, Mingrui, Express School, Xin Rui and other models. Insurance figures show that in the first three quarters, Auto Skoda sold a total of 35100 vehicles, down 60.65% from the same period last year.
As for SAIC Audi, the models currently on sale include A7L, Q6 and Q5 e-tron. Insurance figures show that SAIC Audi sold a total of 4096 vehicles in the first three quarters, of which the A7L was 2832. In early September, SAIC Audi updated the price of Audi A7L 45TFSI models. The original guidance price range is 45.98-519900 yuan, while the new guidance price range is 41.87-489900 yuan, with a minimum reduction of 20000 yuan and a maximum reduction of 41000 yuan. The adjusted price is cheaper than FAW-Audi A6L. However, in terms of the market performance of A7L, price reduction may not be able to drive sales growth, in the final analysis, it is still not recognized by SAIC Audi brand.
In terms of independent brands, SAIC passenger car sales (including Mingjue / Feifan / Roewe) fell 32.06 per cent year-on-year to 67900, and cumulative sales rose 14.07 per cent to 679100 from January to October. Insurance figures show that in the first three quarters of 2022, Auto Mingjue sold a total of 76880 vehicles, down 34.01% from the same period last year, with the highest sales of the car Mingjue 5, down 14.06% from the same period last year to 50134, accounting for 65% of the total sales. It is understood that the MG7 will be officially launched in the first quarter of next year, is the first model under the Steam name to use black mark, will launch 1.5+7DCT and 2.0T+9AT two kinds of power, the standard Changan UNI-V, Chuanqi Shadow Leopard, Geely Xingrui and other models.
