The new car concept model ID.Aero has also been unveiled in China before, or named ID.7. In terms of appearance, from the new car concept model ID.Aero and the exposed appearance road test map, the new car front face uses the new energy common closed grille design, with LED headlamp groups on both sides, looks highly similar to the ID.4 model. The top of the new car is equipped with LED daytime driving lights and a strip runs through the two ends, while the bottom of the new car is designed with a fierce trapezoidal grille to further enhance the sporty atmosphere of the new car. On the side of the body, the lines of the new car are smooth, the car is designed with a slippery back, the position of the window creates a sinking effect on the visual effect, and the bottom uses a wheel with dynamic effect. In the rear part, the new car taillight also adopts through-type LED taillight group, and the inner concave design is used in the center of the rear part, which has a high degree of recognition.

In terms of size, the new car is 4975/1897/1528mm in length, width and height, and 2966mm in wheelbase, surpassing Mai Teng and rival BYD Han EV in an all-round way. For comparison, the length, width and height of the BYD EV are 4995/1910/1495mm and the wheelbase is 2920mm.

According to foreign media reports, the new car will be based on the MEB platform, and in terms of power, the pre-drive single-drive model will be available for consumers to choose from, equipped with 77kW h battery pack, the maximum support for 150kW fast charging, WLTP operating mileage of 620km, in addition, the new car will also launch a dual-motor four-wheel drive version in the later stage, which may be a high-performance sports version under the product sequence. In addition, Volkswagen officials applied for the trademark "ID.7 Tourer" overseas earlier this year, and it is reported that the new car may launch a derivative model of the travel version in the future.

According to Volkswagen's website, Volkswagen currently sells electric models such as ID.3, ID.4 and ID.6 in China. Official figures show that Volkswagen has sold 500000 ID vehicles worldwide since the delivery of the first ID.3 models in October 2020. Volkswagen Group said it plans to speed up its electrification plan.

Stephen Wallenstein, chief executive of Volkswagen China, had previously said that the goal of doubling sales of ID series electric vehicles by 2022 was "very promising" and that 15000 to 20000 ID series electric vehicles would be delivered each month in the coming months.
