AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)11/20 Report--

On November 19th, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued a recall notice: Tesla will recall 321628 U.S. vehicles, the recall involves some 2023 Model 3 (production time: October 19, 2022-November 5, 2022), and 2020-2023 Model Y (production time: may 24, 2020-November 9, 2022). Tesla will use OTA to solve the problem that the taillights of electric vehicles go out intermittently, thus increasing the risk of collision, the report said. At the same time, Tesla stressed that it had not received any reports of crashes or injuries to the recalled vehicles.

Just a day earlier, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released another recall announcement: Tesla will recall 29348 Model X models (production time: September 8, 2021-November 5, 2022). Improper calibration of the vehicle restraint control module (RCM) may lead to incorrect ejection of front passenger airbags in some low-speed collisions, especially when children aged 3-6 years old are sitting in the front seat without wearing seat belts, the report said. In view of this defect, Tesla will solve the problem through OTA. Officials will send email notices to relevant car owners on January 14, 2023. At the same time, Model X models currently in production and delivery will also undergo firmware upgrades to ensure that vehicles will not be affected by the problem.

It is understood that Tesla once conducted a compliance test on the vehicle and found that the constraint system did not work in accordance with the previous settings. Since then, Tesla also conducted a number of tests and evaluations to confirm that this was not an accidental accident, so he submitted a recall document to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). However, Tesla said it had not received any reports of accidents caused by the problem as of November 8.

The full name of OTA is "Over-The-Air", that is, air download technology, which was widely used in the mobile phone industry in the early days, ending the complicated operation of mobile phone software upgrading that requires connecting computers, downloading software, and then installing updates. In recent years, with the continuous development of automobile network connection technology, OTA has also become an important means to ensure consumer safety, product maintenance and enhanced functions. At the same time, as new cars increasingly use built-in wireless connections, OTA recalls are becoming more common. Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Tesla and GM have used OTA to resolve product recalls.

"Automotive Industry concern" learned from the car circle that some car owners have disclosed statements, in which the maintenance project is the constraint Control Module (RCM) calibration, and the maintenance model is Model 3. Does this mean that Tesla's domestic models will also be affected, and not only Model X models will be affected, but as of press time, the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration has not issued relevant recall measures.
