On November 18, Guangzhou Automobile Honda Odyssey went on sale with a four-seater version, with only one model launched at a price of 439800 yuan. For comparison, the price range of the Odyssey currently on sale is 23.58-354800, compared with nearly twice the price of the new car than the regular version of the current model. However, the new car has a comprehensive upgrade to the rear space and configuration.

In terms of appearance, the new car basically uses the cash model design style, with a honeycomb-shaped intake grille on the front face, LED headlights on both sides and linked by chrome-plated decorative strips, and the rough silver trim above the grille is parallel to the black trim below, which not only has a high degree of recognition, but also enhances the hierarchical sense of the whole car visually. On the side of the body, the new car still uses the MPV body design style, simple lines, equipped with two-side sliding doors, 17-inch wheels and exclusive luminous welcome pedals to enhance the fashion sense of the new car. In the rear part, the new car also uses a combination of tubular chrome strip and LED taillights, which is also highly recognizable after lighting, equipped with a small car roof spoiler, in addition, the new car also creates a bilateral two-way exhaust visual effect through chrome plating decoration in the rear surrounding area, but the new car exhaust uses a hidden exhaust layout.

In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4861/1820/1705mm, the wheelbase is 2900mm, the height of the new car body and the current seven-seater version are shortened by 7mm, while the rest remain unchanged.

The interior part is the biggest change in the new car. According to the concern of the automobile industry, Odyssey is a classic global strategic MPV model of Honda, which was first launched in 1994 and introduced into the domestic market by import before 2002. As a classic MPV, it mainly competed with its sister car, the Ericsson in the early days. However, throughout the current MPV market, more and more car companies are laying out this market segment, especially after entering 2022.

According to auto industry statistics, from January to October in 2022, domestic MPV market sales fell 14.3% year on year to 770000 vehicles, of which October domestic MPV market sales fell 6.4% year on year to 82000 vehicles. In terms of specific models, the list shows that only Buick GL8 and Wuling Hongguang sold more than 10,000 vehicles in October, of which Buick GL8 sales rose 1.1 per cent year-on-year to 13113; Wuling Hongguang's sales plunged 34.8 per cent to 11615, while Odyssey fell 27.3 per cent year-on-year, ranking eighth on the list with 3045 vehicles, behind Ericsson (3066).

From January to October 2022, the Odyssey sold 35888 vehicles and the Ericsson 28887. With the launch of the Odyssey's four-seater model, the Odyssey can optionally improve further, but the price of the car is 439800 yuan, which is nearly double the price of the ordinary version of the current model, and many netizens say "too expensive".
