On November 25, the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration issued a recall announcement. Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration in accordance with the requirements of the Regulations on the Administration of Recall of Defective Automobile Products and the Measures for the Implementation of the Regulations on the Administration of Recall of Defective Automobile Products, and decided to recall the following vehicles from now on.
I. Some imported Model S and Model X electric vehicles with production dates from September 25,2013 to November 21,2020, totaling 67698 vehicles.
Reason for recall: Due to software problems, some vehicles within the scope of this recall may have inconsistent feedback voltage of power battery voltage sensing circuit and real voltage of electric brick, resulting in misjudgment of battery management system, warnings such as "maintenance required" and "safe parking vehicle" displayed on vehicle screen, and the vehicle will gradually stop power output. In extreme cases, the risk of collision accident of vehicle may be increased, resulting in potential safety hazard.
Solution: Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd. will upgrade the software for vehicles within the recall range free of charge through automobile remote upgrade (OTA) technology. The upgraded vehicles will increase the judgment ability of sensing circuit voltage false alarm. In extreme cases, if abnormal voltage sensing circuit is detected during driving, the vehicle will maintain continuous power output until the end of the current driving cycle and park. It is suggested that users drive the vehicle to a safe position or pull over according to the vehicle prompt. For vehicles that cannot be recalled through OTA technology, Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. will contact relevant users through Tesla Service Center to upgrade software for vehicles free of charge to eliminate safety hazards.
II. A total of 2736 imported Model 3 electric vehicles with production dates from January 12,2019 to November 22,2019; 10127 domestic Model 3 electric vehicles with production dates from October 14,2019 to September 26,2022.
Reason for recall: This recall is for vehicles where the middle seat belt of the second row has been removed for after-sales repair and maintenance. When reinstalling the seat belt fixing bolts at the service center, the fixing parts of the middle seat belt and the left seat belt buckle device of some vehicles may not be penetrated into the connecting bolts. If these vehicles collide, the seat belt will not play a restraining role, increasing the risk of injury to passengers in accidents, and there are potential safety hazards.
Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will inspect the middle seat belt device of the second row seat free of charge for vehicles within the scope of recall. If it is found that the fixing parts of the middle seat belt and the left seat belt buckle are not installed correctly, they will be re-installed according to the specifications to eliminate potential safety hazards.
Emergency measures: Before the vehicle recall is implemented, the user shall drive the vehicle carefully, and can determine whether it is firm by pulling the middle seat belt of the second row seat and the buckle of the left seat belt. After the recall starts, contact the service center for maintenance as soon as possible.
This is Tesla's fifth product recall in China in 2022, with a cumulative recall of 351784 electric vehicles. On February 18, Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. recalled 26047 electric vehicles, including domestic Model 3 (12003) and Model Y (14044); on April 7, Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. recalled 127785 electric vehicles, including imported Model 3 (34207) and domestic Model 3 (93578); On April 29, Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. recalled a total of 14684 electric vehicles, including 1850 imported cars and 12834 domestic cars; on May 6, Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. recalled 107293 domestic Model 3 and Model Y electric vehicles; It is worth mentioning that the above recall measures can be used to upgrade the software of vehicles within the scope of recall through automobile remote upgrade (OTA) technology, so that users can complete the recall without going to the store.
