It is decided to recall some imported 2.2L diesel vehicles produced from September 11, 2012 to August 19, 2014, totaling 13954.

The reason for the recall is that in some vehicles within the scope of this recall, due to the excessive working current of the auxiliary electric heater (PTC heater), the fixed position of the connector harness is disadvantageous to the vibration, the connector part may be damaged after running for a long time, and in serious cases, the auxiliary electric heater may catch fire and there is a safety hidden danger. In view of the above defective models, Hyundai Automobile (China) Investment Co., Ltd. will replace the auxiliary electric heater relay and re-fix the auxiliary electric heater wire harness for the vehicles within the recall range free of charge through the authorized maintenance station; if the auxiliary electric heater connector is damaged, the auxiliary electric heater assembly will be replaced free of charge to eliminate safety risks.

This is the third time that Hyundai has recalled Asoranto in the Chinese market this year. Hyundai Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. recalled some imported 2.0L diesel and 2.2L diesel vehicles produced from November 12, 2014 to July 5, 2018, a total of 8008 vehicles. Due to control logic problems in the vehicles within the scope of this recall, the working temperature of PTC heaters (auxiliary electric heaters for air conditioners) may rise excessively, resulting in damage to PTC connectors and broken wiring harness. in serious cases, fire may occur in PTC heaters, resulting in safety risks. In September 2022, Hyundai Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. decided to recall some imported 2.0L gasoline, 2.4L gasoline and 2.2L diesel vehicles produced from April 27th to July 25th in 2022, totaling 2282 vehicles.

According to this calculation, the cumulative number of recalls from Asoranto before and after three times this year has reached 24244. The Soranto is a global model launched by Kia, with cumulative global sales of more than 650000 vehicles since its launch, of which 49726 were imported from January to September 2022, meaning that the cumulative number of recalls this year has reached almost half of the total sales.
