It is also a clich é topic that the airbag does not eject after the vehicle crash. of course, whether the airbag pops up or not is directly related to the collision angle and speed, but it also needs to be under the condition that the function of the airbag is normal. Recently, the Zaifu Tianhe airbag was investigated in the United States, the reason is that there may be interference electrical signals when the car crashes, resulting in the failure of the airbag control circuit and the airbag can not eject.
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has conducted an investigation into the airbag supplier ZF Tianhe. The investigation mainly revolves around the airbag control device produced by ZF Tianhe, which is installed on the vehicle, and its control unit may be subjected to electrical overload due to the relevant signals generated by the collision accident, resulting in the airbag not being opened when it should be opened. 12.3 million vehicles involving millions of parts from six carmakers have been investigated, including cars made by Toyota, Honda, Kia, Hyundai, Mitsubishi and Fiat Chrysler between 2010 and 2019.
The problem may have killed eight people, including Hyundai, Kia and Fiat Chrysler, according to NHTSA documents. So far, only Hyundai, Kia and Fiat Chrysler have issued recalls for car airbag problems, of which Hyundai and Kia recalled nearly 1.1 million vehicles last year. Fiat Chrysler recalled about 1.9 million vehicles worldwide in 2016.
NHTSA said in its investigation documents that it had found no other cases of electrical interference in Hyundai, Kia or Fiat Chrysler vehicles that used ZF Trina airbags but were not recalled. In addition, since Toyota began using ZF Trina airbags in 2011, NHTSA has not found any cases of electrical interference in other Toyota models, including the Corolla, nor in Honda or Mitsubishi.
NHTSA will conduct further investigations into potentially defective airbags and will not rule out a wider recall in the future.
Trina is one of the world's top ten auto parts suppliers and one of the world's Fortune 500 companies. Trina produces high-tech active and passive safety products and systems in braking, steering, suspension and occupant safety and provides after-sales market operations. In September 2014, Germany's ZF spent $13.5 billion in cash to buy its entire stake in Tianhe.
For drivers and passengers, the role of the safety airbag-type life-saving device in the event of an accident is very important. "Takata airbag" has become the largest recall in the history of the automobile industry, according to public data. Takata airbag risks have killed at least 23 people and injured hundreds worldwide, and now the cumulative recall of problem airbag vehicles has exceeded 50 million, and Takata has gone bankrupt as a result.
The role of airbags is to protect the safety of passengers. Airbags can provide effective cushioning and reduce occupant casualties when the vehicle is hit. First Takata, now Zaifu Tianhe airbag has also been exposed to serious defects, the outbreak of airbag problems in recent years, should also cause the industry's attention and reflection.
