Ultium Cells LLC, a joint venture between the two sides, said that the new investment was on top of the $2.3 billion announced in April 2021, and that the additional investment of $275 million was mainly for a joint venture battery plant in Tennessee. The new investment is expected to increase the plant's capacity from 35 gigawatt hours to 50 gigawatt hours.
