On March 2,2021, Jidu Automobile Co., Ltd. was formally established with a registered capital of RMB 2 billion Yuan. Its business scope includes technical service, technology development, technical consultation, technology exchange, technology transfer and technology promotion of new energy vehicles and related parts; manufacturing of automobile parts and accessories, etc. According to the equity penetration chart, Jidu Automobile Co., Ltd. is wholly-owned by Dazi County Bailuixiang Venture Capital Management Co., Ltd., which is a wholly-owned grandson company of Baidu.

It is worth mentioning that, on June 28, Jidu Automobile had undergone industrial and commercial changes, Shanghai Huapu Automobile Co., Ltd. controlled by Geely withdrew from the ranks of shareholders, and the legal representative of the company was changed from Xia Yiping, CEO of Jidu Automobile, to Liang Zhixiang. At the same time, Xia Yiping stepped down as director and general manager, and An Conghui, chairman of Geely Automobile, also stepped down as director of Jidu Automobile. In response to this, Xia Yiping responded in the media communication meeting: "Jidu Automobile Co., Ltd. is a domestic-funded company registered by Geely and Baidu in the early days. It is understood that Mihang Automobile does not hold any trademark of Jidu Automobile. The main body of Jidu Automobile is Shanghai Jidu Automobile Co., Ltd., which was established in November 2021. The legal representative is Xia Yiping, which is 100% owned by Jidu Automobile (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. In January 2022, Jidu Automobile announced that it had completed Series A financing of nearly USD 400 million, which was jointly increased by Baidu and Geely.

Twenty-two months after the official announcement of the car, the first production car of Jidu Automobile was finally released. On October 27,2022, the limited edition of ROBO-01 lunar exploration was officially launched at a price of 399,800 yuan. It should be noted that this is a joint model of China Lunar Exploration Project jointly built by Jidu and China Lunar Exploration. It is based on Jidu ROBO-01 concept car. In fact, Jidu ROBO-01 ordinary model has not yet appeared, but it is expected that there will be no great difference in appearance.

It is understood that the ROBO-01 lunar exploration limited edition retains 90% of the design and functions of the concept car. First of all, the ROBO-01 lunar exploration limited edition door adopts the common opening and closing mode of the door, rather than the butterfly wing door and the opposite door of the concept car. This is not difficult to understand, the latter two door opening methods are actually quite common in concept cars, but in view of cost, practicality, etc., there are few real landing models.

At the same time, the concept car adopts no B-pillar design, which is cool, but for the car, the B-pillar is related to the overall strength of the side of the car body, so the ROBO-01 lunar exploration limited edition still returns to the traditional shape, using B-pillar and physical rearview mirror. The reason is simple: without a B-pillar, it would be difficult to pass a safety crash test, and current laws and regulations do not allow vehicles without physical mirrors to hit the road.

In addition, the liftable lidar placed on the hood of the vehicle was also cancelled, which could expand the coverage and improve the detection capability. Finally, ROBO-01 lunar limited edition placed the lidar on the left and right sides of the front face of the vehicle. Of course, the shortcomings are also very obvious. Once the vehicle collides, the maintenance cost is greatly reduced.

It is understood that ROBO-01 lunar exploration version positioning medium and large SUV, length, width and height of 4853/1990/1611mm respectively, wheelbase of 3000mm, and Xiaopeng G9 and Avita 11 close, the advantage is not obvious but also does not pull crotch.

In terms of interior decoration, the overall color of the new car is mainly white, which almost restores the interior design of the concept car. The central control is equipped with 3D unbounded integrated screen, and the screen size is 35.6 inches. At the same time, the new car cancels the shift lever and left and right shift levers, and uses a U-shaped steering wheel. All the buttons are gathered on the steering wheel, and the whole steering wheel looks more like a large game handle.

The key to concentration at present is product and price. Li Yanhong once revealed that the target market of Jidu is family car, the product price is about 200,000 yuan, although the current launch is Jidu ROBO-01 lunar exploration limited edition, but its guidance price of 399,800 yuan is still much higher than market expectations.

On the whole, the price of the limited edition of ROBO-01 lunar exploration is similar to that of Avita 11 and Xiaopeng G9, while the design of opposite doors is cancelled, and the overall lack of surprise after no B-pillar design. Perhaps its biggest advantage may lie in L4 autonomous driving technology and massive accumulation of road test data. It is understood that although Baidu is an Internet company, it started research and development in the field of automatic driving as early as 2013, and established Apollo, an automatic driving business, in 2017, and cooperated with many domestic automobile enterprises to promote the test of automatic driving, but limited by regulations, L4 automatic driving technology can not be carried on ordinary products.
