AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)12/11 Report--
According to media reports, BYD will launch its first electric cars in Europe in the coming months, while it is reported that BYD is focusing on the east and west of the European continent. although it may prefer to set up factories in more developed countries with high and growing demand for electric cars.
In response to the above report, BYD said, "BYD will comprehensively consider the possibility of building a factory according to the actual situation of its business in Europe." In addition, Li Ke, executive vice president of BYD, revealed that BYD is considering building 1-2 electric car plants in Europe.
Since BYD announced the suspension of fuel car production in April this year, its sales have been climbing, gradually becoming China's new energy leader. Data show that in November 2022, BYD sold 230400 new energy vehicles, an increase of 152.60 percent over the same period last year and another all-time high, while sales of new energy passenger vehicles increased by 155.14 percent to 229900. The cumulative sales of new energy passenger vehicles in the first 11 months was 1.6227 million, an increase of 223.96% over the same period last year, reaching the conservative annual sales target of 1.5 million vehicles in 2022.
Against the backdrop of rising sales, BYD is also speeding up plans for passenger cars to go out to sea. So far, BYD has successively entered the markets of Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, Brazil, Costa Rica and Colombia. On July 21 this year, BYD announced its official entry into the Japanese passenger car market and simultaneously unveiled three pure electric models: yuan PLUS, Dolphin and Seal. Yuan PLUS is expected to go on sale in January 2023, while Dolphin and Seal will go on sale in mid and late 2023 respectively. On August 1, BYD announced a partnership with European dealer group Hedin Mobility to provide new energy vehicles for the Swedish and German markets. On September 8th, BYD signed a land subscription and plant agreement with WHA Weihua Group Volkswagen Co., Ltd., the first overseas passenger car factory officially landed in Thailand, and is expected to produce 150000 cars a year there from 2024; on September 28th, BYD held an online launch of new energy passenger vehicles in Europe and launched three new models of Chinese, Tang and Yuan PLUS.
On October 12th, BYD India was considering building a second factory in the Indian market, and the news was later confirmed by the authorities. On the same day, BYD held a brand conference in New Delhi, India, and launched its first high-end pure electric ATTO 3 ("BYD PLUS" in China). The first batch of 500 cars will be delivered from January 2023.
On November 22nd, BYD held a new product launch of "New Energy Night" in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and launched Song PLUS DM-i and Yuan PLUS models. BYD will start local production in Brazil. On November 29th, BYD signed eight dealers in Mexico and debuted two new energy models in the country, and the new car is expected to go on sale in the country in 2023. On November 30th, BYD unveiled seven models at the Thailand International Auto Expo, including Yuan PLUS, Tang EV, Han EV, Qin PLUS DM-i, Song PLUS DM-i, Dolphins and Seals.
For BYD, this year is its top priority in accelerating the layout of the global new energy car market. BYD has set up one factory in Canada and three in Brazil. If BYD considers opening a factory in Europe, it may help it gain more market share while avoiding high EU tariffs on imports. So far, of course, more official disclosure is needed to determine whether BYD will eventually open a factory in Europe.
According to the production and sales data released by BYD in November 2022, BYD sold 12318 overseas new energy passenger vehicles in November 2022, with a cumulative sales of 44596 in the first 11 months. The industry forecasts that BYD's export sales may reach 300000 to 500000 vehicles by 2023.
