It is understood that the new generation Accord was officially unveiled at the 2022 Los Angeles Motor Show, and the new car can be regarded as the 11th generation model of the Accord series, which is expected to be introduced by Guangzhou Auto Honda and Dongfeng Honda next year to compete for Camry, Teana, Passat and other medium-sized cars.

Under the brand-new design concept, the overall shape of Accord becomes more athletic and younger. In terms of appearance, the new car uses a hexagonal forward air grille, the interior of the grille is filled with triangular gridding elements, and the narrow headlights on both sides are connected with the front grille to form an integrated design. In addition, the front enclosure uses a through-type heat dissipation and ventilation opening design, with chrome-plated decorative strips on both sides, which makes the whole look more athletic and younger.

On the side of the car body, the side style of the brand-new Accord has changed greatly. the bottom of the C-column adopts an obvious sharp angle design, and the area of the triangular window behind the C-column has been reduced to a certain extent, which makes the roof become larger from the back angle of the B-pillar. More sedan car style. In the rear part, the new car is well-behaved as a whole, using the popular through-type taillight group, while the internal details of the lamp group are optimized and upgraded, the rear row adopts a hidden layout, and the small size "duck tail" on the rear cover is also retained.

In terms of size, the new Accord is 4980/1860/1450mm in length, width and height, and 2830mm in wheelbase. As a reference, at present, the length, width and height of the domestic Accord are 4906/1862/1449mm and the wheelbase is 2830mm. The main change is that the length of the car has increased by 65mm, but the wheelbase is consistent with the current model. Overall, the length of the new car has increased the 74mm, but the width, height and wheelbase are basically the same as the current model.

In addition, the current Camry length width and height are 1885/1840/1455mm, wheelbase 2825mm, while just completed the mid-term transformation of Teana for 4906/1850/1450mm, wheelbase for 2825mm. By comparison, the data of the new generation Accord is basically ahead of the same class models.

The interior design of the new generation of Accord is temporarily unknown, but it is expected to be consistent with overseas models. Referring to the overseas version of the model, the overall design of the eleventh generation Accord basically refers to the new generation Civic, CR-V and other models, with a knob control unit under the central control LCD screen, a through air outlet and a suspended central control screen, which is similar to the eleventh generation Honda Civic. The new car is equipped with a 10.2-inch LCD dashboard and a 12.3 suspended central control screen, which is by far the largest of all Honda family models. It should be noted that the 12.3in suspension central control screen is not a new standard, the low-equipped model central control screen size is only 7 inches, but the whole system standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto interconnection. In addition, the new car will also be equipped with HUD head display, BOSE brand audio, mobile phone wireless charging, knee airbag, rear side airbag (equipped for the first time) and Honda Sensing driving assistance function.

In terms of power, the new Accord is equipped with a 1.5T turbocharged engine model L15CH/L15CJ, with a maximum power of 141kW and a peak torque of 260Nm. The transmission system matches the CVT continuously variable transmission. The new car is expected to offer a gas-electric hybrid with a hybrid system of 2.0L naturally aspirated engines and motors, matched by an E-CVT gearbox.

As a classic Honda car, Accord has a history of 38 years. In 1994, the fifth generation Honda Accord came to China by way of import. in order to meet the needs of domestic consumers, the domestic Accord model also added a special model with 2.2L engine and leather seats.

On July 1, 1998, Guangzhou Automobile Honda Automobile Co., Ltd. (formerly Guangzhou Honda Automobile Co., Ltd.) was formally established as a joint venture company jointly funded by Guangzhou Automobile Group and Honda Technology Research Industrial Co., Ltd., each holding 50% of the shares. The term of cooperation is 30 years. The following year, GAC Honda introduced the sixth generation Accord into domestic production, becoming the first domestic model under GAC Honda. The sixth generation Accord has been produced for three years. Up to now, Accord development has gone through ten update iterations. The tenth generation Accord was listed in China on April 16, 2018, and the tenth generation mid-term modified model was launched on October 9, 2021, with a price of 16.98-259800 yuan.

At present, what is being sold in the domestic market is the mid-term change of the tenth generation Accord, although it is at the end of the product period, but its sales performance is still strong. As a medium-sized car under GAC Honda, Accord's competitors are aimed at Nissan Teana, Toyota Camry and other models, the gap between these three models in the market is not very big, basically maintained at more than 10,000 vehicles, but in terms of sales in 2022, Accord is between Camry and Teana. Figures show that Accord sold 198200 vehicles in the first 11 months of 2022, compared with 215700 for Camry and 138100 for Teana.

In fact, it is not so much the 11th generation Accord model, to be more like a mid-term change, the main change lies in the appearance and interior design, the use of Civic, CR-V and other vehicle design style, become more sports, young, while the core power system has not changed. Of course, this change is understandable, after all, the current joint venture brands are facing difficulties in the development of fuel models with large sales on the one hand and globally driven electrification on the other. More and more car companies have begun to stop developing new fuel cars. At present, in the last era of fuel vehicles, Accord and other old models even if ushered in a replacement, but tend to cost control, in fact, less and less expected.
