The rear of the car uses inverted L taillights, and the internal light source of the narrow taillight group uses a three-dimensional check-back style, which is highly recognizable after lighting. The rear of the new car is surrounded by a two-color design different from that of the car body, with a rear diffuser and a bilateral exhaust layout, and the exhaust tail nozzle is arranged vertically, highlighting the personalized attributes of the M model. In terms of configuration, the new car provides 6 standard car paints, 1 optional car paint, 1 standard interior color, 3 optional interior colors, 1 standard rims, 2 optional rims and other configurations.

In terms of body, the new car has a length, width and height of 5110/2005/1755mm and a wheelbase of 3105mm. The wheelbase is the same as the BMW X7, but the XM is a five-seater model, and the passenger space in the car will be more spacious than the X7. The use of slip-back body structure design, black eyebrow decoration so that the vehicle seems to have a strong sense of muscle, with large-size wheels and M brake calipers to enhance the movement of the vehicle. In addition, what is interesting is that the door handle design of the new car does not use the hidden door handle which is more popular in the electric model, but uses the conventional door handle design. The interior is equipped with a 14.9-inch central touch display and a 12.3-inch digital dashboard with a brand new iDrive 8 system. The interior of the vehicle is decorated with a large number of high-grade leather fabrics, which is more luxurious compared with other BMW fuel cars.

On the power side, the BMW XM is equipped with a hybrid system, an M hybrid drive system composed of a 4.4L V8 twin-turbocharged engine and a high-performance motor, with an integrated maximum output power of 480kW and an integrated peak torque of 800Nm. The new car is equipped with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 25.7kWh, the battery life of pure electricity is expected to reach 80km, and the overall fuel consumption is expected to be 1.6-1.5L/100km.

It is understood that the BMW XM, independently developed by BMW's M department, is the second independent model in the M series and the first M hybrid model. The BMW XM concept car was launched in November 2021 and is scheduled to go into production at the Spartanburg plant in South Carolina by the end of 2022. Officially, the first Label model based on the XM will be launched in 2023, which will be named "XM Label Red". The power output will exceed the 735Ps and 1000Nm, and it will go into production in mid-2023, or with a limited release, with an expected starting price of $185000.

With the rapid development of electrification, BMW Group has also accelerated the layout of electrification. As early as at BMW's annual earnings meeting in March, BMW Group said that in 2022, BMW Group will mass-produce and trial-produce 15 pure electric models, covering about 90 per cent of the market segments, and plans to deliver 2 million pure electric vehicles worldwide by the end of 2025. In 2030, 10 million pure electric vehicles are planned to be delivered to customers. By 2030, the other three major brands of BMW Group will also be fully electrified, the Rolls-Royce brand will complete the electrification of all products, the BMW Motorrad urban travel series will be fully electrified, and the MINI brand will also move towards full electrification.
