In November 2022, Mercedes-Benz sold only 206Mercedes-Benz EQE, while EQA, EQB and EQC combined sold only 18, including 8 EQA, 4 EQB and 6 EQC, according to CATV data. According to the data, Mercedes-Benz is struggling in the field of electric vehicles, but the good news is that the lacklustre market performance has not defeated the confidence of Mercedes-Benz's all-electric models.

At present, Mercedes-Benz EQs SUV has been officially unveiled in China, the new car is based on Mercedes-Benz EVA platform, is the first large-scale pure electric SUV model under Mercedes-Benz, and can be regarded as the SUV version of Mercedes-Benz EQS. In terms of appearance, the new car basically continues the design style of the Mercedes-Benz EQ series, but it is more exquisite than the EQS car. The front face is designed with a black enclosed grille, the center of which is Mercedes-Benz's iconic brand logo, with sharp daytime driving lights on both sides. The side and rear part of the body is relatively simple, the side lines of the body are smooth, and do not use too many lines and corner design, highlighting the round outline of the new car. The rear part of the car is equipped with a penetrating taillight group, and the interior of the lamp cavity is decorated with a 3D spiral shape. In terms of interior decoration, the overall layout of the new car is consistent with that of the EQS sedan. The center console consists of a 17.7in OLED central control display, a 12.3in dashboard and a 12.3in passenger screen, equipped with eight core CPU and 24GB memory, as well as Nvidia Xavier AI chips. In the seat layout, the new car offers two options of five seats and seven seats respectively. In terms of power, the new car provides EQS 450 + and EQS 580 4MATIC models, of which the EQS SUV 450 + version uses rear wheel drive with a maximum power of 265kW and a maximum torque of 568Nm; the EQS SUV 5804MATIC version uses dual-motor four-wheel drive with a maximum power of 400kW and a maximum torque of 858Nm. In terms of battery, the new car is equipped with 107.8kW h battery pack, and in terms of battery life, the vehicle's mileage in WLTP conditions can reach 660km.

As for the price, the overseas price range of Mercedes-Benz EQs SUV is $10.44-125950 (about 72.06-869400 yuan), which is close to the starting price of overseas EQS sedan ($104000, about 717900 yuan). As a reference, the price range of domestic Mercedes-Benz EQs cars is 107.46-1.5136 million yuan, and it is expected that the domestic price of new cars will also be close to that of EQS cars. As far as the BBA market is concerned, the three German luxury car brands Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi have all accelerated the pace of electrification in an all-round way, of which BMW and Audi's family flagship SUV are medium and large products iX and e-tron respectively, and it is expected that the new car will compete with BMW IX, Tesla Model X and Maybach models after its launch.

According to the official product promotion plan, Mercedes-Benz pure electric and plug-in hybrid models will account for 50% of total sales in 2025, and will basically be converted to pure electric models in 2030. According to the official website, the current Mercedes-Benz EQ series models include EQC, EQB, EQA, EQE and EQS, of which EQC, EQB and EQA are all oil-to-electric models. According to the official product promotion plan, by 2025, Mercedes-Benz pure electric and plug-in hybrid models will account for 50% of the total sales, and Mercedes-Benz will basically be transformed into pure electric models in 2030.

From the perspective of the layout of the electric transformation, compared with BMW and Audi, Mercedes-Benz is advancing faster in the electric transformation, but it is a pity that sales of Mercedes-Benz EQ electric cars are low in the domestic market. Mercedes-Benz may need more time to build electric cars.
