It is understood that the hacker organization stole about 22800 pieces of internal employee data, 399000 pieces of car owner ID data, 650000 pieces of user address data and 4.85 million pieces of registered user data. The data illegally sold is the same as the content posted online, using bitcoin as the form of payment, with employee data selling for 0.15bitcoin and car owner ID data selling for 0.25bitcoin.

NIO said the company had issued a public statement on the incident in China, which provided a special hotline and e-mail address to answer users about data leaks. At the same time, NIO promises to be responsible for the losses caused to users due to data leakage. NIO also said that the company will do everything possible to support its users, while working with relevant government departments to investigate the incident and take necessary measures to control potential losses.

On December 20, NIO issued an apology after internal data were stolen by lawbreakers. The company received an external email on Dec. 11 claiming to have internal data from NIO and extorted $2.25 million in bitcoin for leaked data, the statement said.
