On December 23, the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration issued a notice that Nissan (China) Investment Co., Ltd. filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration in accordance with the requirements of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products and the measures for the implementation of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products. Since December 25th, some imported Infiniti G series, M series and Q70L cars will be recalled, and some imported G37 sedan cars and G37 convertible cars will be recalled from June 28th, 2024, totaling 59391 vehicles.

The recall was carried out after the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration launched a defect investigation. Affected by the investigation, Nissan (China) Investment Co., Ltd. decided to take recall measures to eliminate safety risks. The details are as follows:

A total of 18920 G-series cars of 2007-2014 were imported from April 1 to March 1, 2014. a total of 2009-2013 G37 sedan cars were imported during the period from November 1, 2009 to June 1, 2013. a total of 111vehicles; some of the G37 convertibles produced during the period from November 1, 2009 to June 1, 2015 imported a total of 718 G37 convertibles. Some of the M-Series cars produced during the period from 1 September 2010 to 1 February 2012 imported a total of 2189 M-Series vehicles, and those produced during the period from 1 March 2012 to 1 March 2020 imported a total of 37453 Q70L vehicles from 2012 to 2020.

The reason for this recall is that the damage to the passenger classification system (OCS) in some vehicles within the recall scope will lead to the failure of the passenger classification system (OCS), resulting in the lighting of OCS status lights and instrument airbag indicators, and turning off the passenger airbag deployment function. When a vehicle collision accident occurs, the co-driver airbag can not be deployed normally, which will increase the injury risk of the co-driver, and there is a safety hidden danger. In view of the above defects, Nissan (China) Investment Co., Ltd. will, through Dongfeng Infiniti Automobile Co., Ltd., install additional OCS control units, seat belts not fastened with sensors and wire harnesses in the passenger seat cushion assembly for vehicles within the recall range free of charge, so as to eliminate safety risks.

INFINITI Infiniti is a luxury car brand owned by Nissan. The brand was born in North America in 1989, officially entered the Chinese market in 2007 and achieved domestic sales in 2014. In January 2022, Dongfeng Infiniti was officially incorporated into the management system of Dongfeng Nissan, becoming the third brand under Dongfeng Nissan.

Compared with other brands entering the Chinese market, Infiniti's development after entering the Chinese market is very general. According to Dongfeng Automobile Group, Dongfeng Infiniti sales from 2016 to 2019 were 26131, 27766, 28868 and 35035 respectively, down 26.66% to 25695 in 2020 and 66.15% to 8697 in 2021.

It has been in China for seven years, but at present Infiniti has only three domestic models, Q50L, QX50, and QX60. According to the data of new car compulsory insurance purchases, Dongfeng Infiniti's cumulative sales fell by 58.71% from January to November last year to 5211 vehicles compared with the same level of luxury brands. The automobile industry is concerned that, in addition to the impact of the epidemic and other general environment, slow product renewal is the main reason why Infiniti brand influence and product competitiveness are not as good as the same level of luxury brands.
