Data show that Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. was established in May 2018, with a registered capital of 4.67 billion yuan. The scope of business includes production, sales, remanufacturing, maintenance and other after-sales services in the fields of electric vehicles and spare parts, batteries, power transmission and distribution and control equipment, energy storage equipment, photovoltaic products; car rental; new car sales; used car distribution, etc. Shareholder information shows that the company is wholly owned by Tesla Automobile Hong Kong Co., Ltd.

At the beginning of this month, it was reported that Zhu Xiaotong might take Musk and become Tesla's global CEO. According to the data, Zhu Xiaotong was born in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, graduated from Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand and received an MBA from Duke University's Fuca School of Business in the United States. After graduation, Zhu Xiaotong has many entrepreneurial experiences, has participated in the founding of Kai Bo International, engaged in property management and project implementation related work. However, after joining Tesla to apologize, Zhu Xiaotong did not participate too much in the work related to the automobile industry.

In April 2014, Zhu Xiaotong joined Tesla Automobile Company as the project director of Tesla supercharging station. Tesla has been in office since the departure of Wu Bicheng, former global vice president and president of Greater China, in December 2014. It is understood that, in addition to the United States, Zhu Xiaotong is one of the three Tesla executives who directly reported to Musk, while the previous Wu Bicheng did not.

In 2018 and 2019, Zhu Xiaotong was successively elected as Tesla's global vice president and president of Greater China, responsible for leading the Greater China business and responsible for the construction and operation of Tesla's super factory in Shanghai. Since then, after taking full control of Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, Zhu Xiaotong has been in charge of business in the Asia-Pacific region, including Singapore, Japan and South Korea.

It is understood that at present, Tesla has many factories, such as the Nida Huazhou super factory, the New York super factory, the Shanghai super factory, the Berlin super factory, and so on, and the Shanghai factory is the more outstanding super factory among Tesla's many factories. According to the data, the foundation of Tesla Shanghai factory was laid and built on January 7, 2019, and the first car was delivered on December 30, 2019, which took only 358 days. Data show that Tesla delivered 936000 vehicles worldwide in 2021, of which 484100 were delivered by the Shanghai Super Factory, accounting for more than half of Tesla's total global delivery. Under the leadership of Zhu Xiaotong, China has become a market that Tesla attaches great importance to. According to Tesla's form 10murQ filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Chinese market achieved operating revenue of $13.568 billion (99.141 billion yuan) in the first three quarters of 2022, up 50.5% from $9.015 billion in the same period and accounting for 23.9% of the company's total revenue. Therefore, to some extent, the Shanghai Super Factory led Tesla to break out of the world and become a vital and indispensable part of the entire Tesla production system, which may be inseparable from Zhu Xiaotong's leadership.

From this point of view, it is not impossible for Zhu Xiaotong to take over Musk and become Tesla's global CEO. Moreover, Musk does not seem to care much about taking the position of global CEO. He has repeatedly stressed that he is more like an engineer developing technology, hoping to devote all his energy and focus to engineering and research and development, rather than being dragged down by Tesla's daily business work, such as manufacturing, production, supply, finance, quality inspection, and so on. In addition, given Zhu Xiaotong's achievements in the Chinese market, Musk may hope to extend the experience of the Shanghai super factory to other factories of Tesla, which also makes Zhu Xiaotong's important position as global CEO of Tesla more persuasive. Of course, as of press time, Tesla did not respond to the relevant rumors, and it is not known whether Zhu Xiaotong stepped down as a legal person and general manager of Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.
