On December 31, BYD officially issued a notice of price adjustment for its models. In the announcement, BYD said it decided to formally adjust the official guidance price of the relevant models from January 1, 2023, ranging from 2000 yuan to 6000 yuan. The new price will take effect from 00:00 on January 1st, and customers who pay a deposit before that will not be affected by this price adjustment.

On the same day, BYD's Tengcheng brand also released a model price adjustment statement on the official Weibo, saying that Tencent will adjust the price of its products from 00:00 on January 1, 2023, including an increase of 6000 yuan per unit for Teng's D9DM-i model. Teng's D9 EV model is not within the scope of this price adjustment, and the specific price adjustment notice will be announced on March 1, 2023. Customers who pay the deposit before 00:00 on January 1, 2023 and complete the contract will not be affected by this price adjustment.

It is no surprise that BYD wants to raise prices. As early as November 23, BYD issued a "explanation on vehicle price adjustment", which clearly will adjust the official guidance prices of dynasty, ocean and new energy models related to the trend. The increase ranges from 2000 yuan to 6000 yuan. As for the reasons for price adjustment, on the one hand, the subsidy policy for the purchase of new energy vehicles will end on December 31, 2022. After that, the vehicle countries that are licensed will no longer give subsidies (the existing subsidy amount: 4800 yuan per plug-in hybrid vehicle and 12600 yuan per unit of pure electric vehicles); on the other hand, the price of the main raw materials for batteries has risen sharply since the second half of 2022.

At present, the BYD passenger car business plate is composed of dynasty net, ocean net and Teng brand, in which dynasty net is composed of Qin, Han, Song, Tang, Yuan and other models; Ocean net includes marine life series, warship series and e series products. Among them, the models on sale under the ocean net include dolphins, destroyers 05 and seals; after Huanxin, there is only one Tengli D9 model.

Data show that BYD's retail sales in November were 217600 vehicles, up 125.1% from a year earlier, surpassing FAW-Volkswagen and SAIC-Volkswagen combined. Among the specific models, the sales of the dynasty net series are 64100 in Song, 31700 in Han, 29400 in Yuan, 28300 in Qin and 20000 in Tang; 15300 seals, 26000 dolphins, 6032 destroyers and 3451 Teng Teng D9 DM-i. As of November 30, BYD sold a total of 1.5809 million vehicles, up 152.6% from a year earlier.

In the automotive industry, BYD is not the only car company to announce a price increase. Previously, a number of car companies, including Guangzhou Auto Eian, Tianji Automobile, Changan Automobile, Ruilan Automobile, Geometry Automobile, SAIC Roewe, and so on, have announced price increases, which are basically in line with BYD's, mainly affected by the state's abolition of subsidy policy and a sharp rise in the price of battery raw materials.

Of course, there are also some car companies that will not raise prices after announcing the abolition of the state subsidy. On December 31, Wei Brand, a brand of Great Wall Automobile, announced that for users who order Wei plug-in hybrid models from January 1, 2023, the difference in state subsidy policy for new energy will be borne by Wei Brand cars. at present, the official guiding price of plug-in hybrid models remains unchanged. The models involved are Mocha DHT-PHEV 0 anxiety version (instruction price 295000 yuan), latte DHT-PHEV (22.90-263000 yuan) and Macchiato DHT-PHEV (17.88-189800 yuan). Wei Pai stressed that the official guidance price for subsequent new or modified models will be released separately.

On the same day, Lantu officially announced that the state subsidy for new energy vehicles would be cancelled after December 31. Lantu launched new preferential policies for all FREE models, and users who buy vehicles before March 1, 2023 can enjoy a subsidy of 30000 yuan without a threshold. Yesterday, zero-running cars also announced that they would not raise prices and said that the amount of state subsidy was zero, while enjoying the benefits of 10000 yuan discount for all C01 departments.

BYD's price increase comes after Cui Dongshu, secretary-general of the National passenger car Market Information Association, said: "BYD's price increase has little to do with the sharp rise in the price of power battery raw materials." The main reason for the price increase of car companies is that they are affected by the formal withdrawal of subsidies for new energy vehicles at the end of this year. Based on this, there may be a round of price increases in the domestic new energy vehicle market at the beginning of next year, and several car companies may follow, but not on a large scale.
