The predecessor of MG7 is this domestic Mingjue 7 Series. 15 years later, Mingjue MG7 made its debut with a new look. In 2021, Mingjue released a new brand logo, which is also composed of the letter "MG", but the updated Mingjue logo changed from the original three-dimensional design style to two-dimensional graphic design. In August 2022, SAIC Mingjue launched a new pure black LOGO, and the above-mentioned Mingjue MG7 is the first model of the brand to adopt the black standard LOGO.

At present, the MG brand has MG5, MG6, MG pilot, MGZS and other models, in addition to domestic production and sales, overseas markets also have layout, such as the United Kingdom, Australia and so on. In terms of sales volume, Mingjue's domestic sales are much lower than those in overseas markets, with figures showing that Mingjue sold more than 470000 vehicles in 2021, but only 110000 in China.

According to the number of new car compulsory insurance purchases, SAIC Mingjue's cumulative sales fell 38.55 per cent year-on-year to 89316 vehicles from January to November in 2022, of which the highest-selling model was Mingjue 5, down 14.06 per cent from a year earlier to 58350 vehicles, accounting for 65.32 per cent of total sales.
