On January 3, Chery officially released the official model diagram of its new medium-sized SUV-- Ruihu 9. Based on the new T2X Mars architecture, the new car is positioned as the flagship SUV of the Chery brand, offering a choice of 5-seat and 7-seat versions, all equipped with 2.0T engines. According to the plan, the new car will go on sale in May this year, and the price may be around 200000 yuan.

From the latest official picture, the appearance of the new car adopts Chery's brand-new family style design, the front face uses a large area polygonal intake grille design, the interior is supplemented by vertical chrome-plated decorative strip straight waterfall design and the trim is zigzagged, the center of the middle net is the luminous LOGO brand, the shape of the headlights on both sides is very narrow and sharp, and the top is the daytime traffic lights, which are interconnected with the China net. In the visual effect extends the width of the front face, the bottom is two lens headlights, the internal use of matrix LED light source. In the rear part, the overall design of the new car is very simple, with a through taillight group design on both sides, and a slender trim linked to each other, with the brand LOGO embedded in the middle, and the rear enclosure is equipped with a bilateral exhaust layout.

On the side of the body, the new car adopts a similar suspended roof and two-color body design, and the roof line begins to decline from the A-pillar, creating a visual effect of a slip-back roof. A straight waistline extends from the headlight group to the taillight group. The whole car is very classy, and the door handle is a popular hidden design, with three-dimensional wheel eyebrows and dense spoke blackening rims below. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4820/1930/1699mm and the wheelbase is 2820mm.

The interior has not been officially disclosed, but according to pictures posted online, the new car's interior will be equipped with a 12.3-inch full liquid crystal meter and a 12.3-inch central control screen, with a rectangular air conditioning outlet at the bottom. and equipped with touch steering wheel and electronic shielding mechanism and other configurations. The new car is expected to be powered by Kunpeng 2.0TGDI engine, Coco plus 92 and 95 gasoline, with maximum power of 187kW and peak torque of 390Nm, and 192kW and 400Nm of peak torque respectively. The transmission system is expected to match the Gertrack 7-speed wet double-clutch transmission or the self-developed 8-speed automatic transmission (FA840). The high-end model is equipped with a timely four-wheel drive system.

As for the market performance after the launch of new cars in the future, Gao Fei, deputy general manager of Chery Automobile Marketing Company, said: "the 187 kilowatt 2.0T engine is very awesome in the domestic market. It has caught up with luxury. It can compete with Mercedes-Benz and BMW. It can also compete with Volkswagen and Toyota. This engine will be launched on Ruihu 9."

According to the official website, Chery's products currently include Ruihu series, Ai Ruize series and ou Mengda three major product series, of which Ruihu series have Ruihu 8, Ruihu 7, Ruihu 3X and Ruihu 5X models for sale; Arize series have Arize GX and Ai Ruize 5 PLUS models for sale Oomengda, the first model under Chery's new product line OMODA, was officially launched on July 12 as a compact SUV with a price range of 9.29-126900 yuan. From the perspective of Chery's product layout, Chery car models are positioned to cover small SUV, compact SUV, medium-sized SUV and compact cars. Although there are many products, only Ruihu series sell well.

Data show that from January to November in 2022, Chery's cumulative sales increased by 45.8 per cent to 844000 vehicles compared with the same period last year. Among the subdivided models, the global cumulative sales of Ruihu 8 series and Ruihu 7 series in the first 11 months were 171000 and 146000 respectively, accounting for 37.56 per cent of Chery's total sales.

In the past 2022, Chery launched a number of new cars, including Chery's new product series OMODA "O'Mengda", Ruihu 8 Pro, Chery Erize 5 GT, Erize 8, the new generation of Ruihu 7 PLUS, etc., except the sales performance of Erize 8 is relatively good, the performance of other models is average. Arize 8 has sold 10453 vehicles since it went on sale on Sept. 26, including 4516 in October and 5937 in November, making it another popular model of Chery, according to the Federation of passengers. By contrast, the performance of Omenda, the first model in Chery's new product line, is mediocre, with November data as an example, which sold only 649 vehicles in November. As for whether the new medium-sized SUV Ruihu 9 can take on Chery's volume models after listing, it remains to be seen.
