Beijing Mercedes-Benz's new generation of long wheelbase GLC was officially unveiled on January 10, and the new car is expected to be officially launched in March. The new car not only continues the classic design language of the Mercedes-Benz family, but also adjusts and optimizes the details. The interior also uses the same central control screen as the Mercedes-Benz C-class, and launches a 7-seat version for the first time.

In terms of appearance, the overall body shape of the new long wheelbase GLC does not change much, but it is more athletic and atmospheric in appearance. Although the former medium net style is basically the same as the current model on sale, the whole medium net looks larger, and black strips are used to outline it at the same time, which makes the LOGO more recognizable. The internal structure of the headlight group has also been changed. The LED daytime driving lights are concentrated on the upper part of the lamp cavity, and the outline of the lamp group is connected to the middle net, which makes the front face sharper in the visual effect. On the side of the car body, the new long wheelbase GLC body side lines adopt two-stage design, the wheel eyebrow strips adopt the same color treatment of the car body, and the rims adopt multi-spoke shape. In the rear part, the new long wheelbase GLC uses a new style of taillights, which is similar to the current Mercedes-Benz C-Class. After the bottom is surrounded by a large area of chrome decoration, the two sections of the "exhaust port" is still just decoration, the real exhaust is still hidden design.

In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new long wheelbase GLC are 4826/1890/1714mm and wheelbase 2977mm respectively. For comparison, the length, width and height of the current GLC are 4764/1898/1642mm and wheelbase 2973mm respectively. It is understood that the new long wheelbase GLC uses a 7-seat layout for the first time, and the second row of seats can be moved back and forth to obtain more flexible space allocation. Of course, for a medium-sized SUV like GLC, seven seats can only be regarded as emergency use.

In terms of interior decoration, the new long wheelbase GLC also adopts the same design style as the current Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the upper layer of the instrument console is inlaid with a flat circular air outlet like a jet engine, and the lower lines extend naturally, making it younger than the current GLC in the overall design style. In addition, the size of the central control screen has been improved in an all-round way, the 11.9-inch central vertical screen and the 12.3-inch full LCD dashboard have a good performance in terms of clarity and color saturation, while the central control screen is designed slightly to the side of the main driver. it is convenient for drivers to observe and operate.

In terms of power, the new long wheelbase GLC will be equipped with a 2.0T engine with high and low adjustments and a 48-volt light mixing system. Although no specific figures have been released officially, according to the previous declaration by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the maximum power of the GLC 260L model is 150kW and that of the GLC 300L is 190kW. In terms of transmission system, the whole system uses a 9-speed automatic gearbox and matches the new generation of 4MATIC four-wheel drive system, and plug-in hybrid models may be provided in the future.

Mercedes-Benz GLC is not only one of the most important models in Mercedes-Benz product lineup, but also the best-selling model of Mercedes-Benz. Data show that in 2008, based on the Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W204) chassis, the Mercedes-Benz GLK (X204) was officially released, listed overseas in the same year, and introduced into the Chinese market by import. In November 2018, Beijing Mercedes-Benz lengthened the Mercedes-Benz GLC and named it "GLC L" to better compete with Audi Q5L and BMW 3-Series for market share. In August 2019, Mercedes-Benz GLC mid-term revamped on the market, the new car in the styling design adjustments, and will provide 2.0T high and low power engine for consumers to choose from, the price range is 39.28-587800 yuan. In the luxury car market, Mercedes-Benz GLC's direct competitors are Audi Q5L and BMW X3. The BMW X3 sold 114863 vehicles in 2022, Audi Q5L 133764 and Mercedes-Benz GLC 148797, according to FIFA data. From the point of view of the update time, the Audi Q5L and BMW X3 have just completed the mid-term upgrade when the Mercedes-Benz GLC is updated, while the Audi Q5L and BMW X3 have just completed the medium-term upgrade before the new Mercedes-Benz GLCs are replaced. As for this kind of dislocation competition in time, it remains to be seen whether it can bring advantages to Mercedes-Benz GLC.

In addition to traditional competitions such as Q5L and X3, high-end new energy models such as ES6 and ES7 are also potential competitors for GLC. After all, for consumers who spend four or five hundred thousand to buy cars, the possibility of having independent parking spaces to install charging piles is still very high. At this time, the advantages of new energy vehicles in license plate policy, power performance, use cost, and scientific and technological functions will be particularly obvious, and it must also attract many potential consumers of the new GLC.

The GLC is the highest-selling Mercedes-Benz model in China, so there will be no snub when the product is updated. In terms of appearance, the new GLC optimizes the details while maintaining the current model design, and continues to lengthen the body size. In terms of interior decoration, the new GLC uses S-class and C-class interior decoration, and launches 7-seat layout for the first time.
