The sales list of medium-sized cars in 2022 has been released. According to the 2022 midsize sedan sales list of "Automotive Industry concern", there are 10 models selling more than 10,000 cars in 2022, which are Camry, Accord, Passat, Maiteng, BMW 3-Series, Teana, Audi A4L, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Model 3, Asian Dragon. In terms of model brands, the models that squeeze into the top 10 are mainly German and Japanese brands, of which the competition between Japanese and BBA is the fiercest.

Judging from the ranking of the list, Toyota Camry became the top midsize car seller in 2022 with sales of 242225 vehicles, ahead of Honda Accord and Nissan Teana. Honda Accord ranks second with sales of 220771, behind the Camry by just 22000. The competition between the two is fierce. Surprisingly, Nissan Teana's sales were dismal, with only 146012 vehicles sold in 2022, falling out of the top five.

In the domestic medium-sized car field, Teana, as one of the three swordsmen of the Japanese system, is as famous as the Camry and Accord, but in recent years Teana has been gradually separated by Camry and Accord, even after the medium-term modified models have been launched. It should be noted that at present, both Camry and Accord are on the market for mid-term changes in 2021, while Teana's modified products are not available until September 2022, which obviously slows down the iterative speed of the products.

On September 30, 2022, the medium-term change of Dongfeng Nissan, Teana, was officially launched, with a total of five new models with a price range of 17.98-239800 yuan. As a replacement model, the appearance of the new car adopts a new design style, which is more fashionable as a whole, while the power still carries 2.0T and 2.0L engines, which are matched by CVT gearboxes. Among them, 2.0L maximum power 156 horsepower, peak torque 197N m, 2.0T maximum power 243 horsepower, peak torque 371N m. According to the new car traffic insurance data, from October to December 2022, Teana sold 12200, 8641 and 12100 vehicles, respectively, while the Camry sold 22100, 19900 and 31500 vehicles, respectively. Accord sold 17900, 16600 and 32, 800 respectively. In terms of data, Teana lags behind Camry and Accord in both monthly and annual sales.

SAIC-Volkswagen Passat and FAW-Volkswagen Maiteng, which are sister models in the list, also had good sales performance, ranking third and fourth on the list, respectively, with Passat ahead of Maiteng with 163532 vehicles. The main reason may be that SAIC-Volkswagen updated the Passat in September 2022, and the product has been improved.

In the BBA luxury brand camp, BMW has always outperformed Mercedes-Benz and Audi. In the segment of medium-sized cars, BMW 3-Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4L all sold more than 10,000 vehicles, of which BMW 3-Series sold 150403 vehicles, ahead of Audi A4L's 143412 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class 143128.

Model 3 and the Asian Dragon also made it into the top 10. According to the retail sales data of the Federation of passengers, Tesla delivered a total of 439770 new cars in China in 2022, of which the annual sales of Model 3 was 124456, down 17.5% from the same period last year. The annual sales of Model Model Y increased by 85.6% over the same period last year, and the sales performance of Model Y in the domestic market was significantly better than that of Model 3.

Since the new generation of Mondeo went public, Mondeo sales began to improve significantly, with a cumulative sales of 58449 vehicles in 2022, ranking 15th on the list. On April 13, 2022, the new generation Mondeo officially launched four models with a price range of 15.98-216800 yuan. The power is equipped with 2.0T turbocharged engine, maximum power 175kw, matching eight-speed manual self-integrated gearbox. Data show that Mondeo sales from June to November were 6423, 6406, 5992, 7329, 5304, 7108 and 7922 respectively. Before the replacement, Mondeo sales basically remained at more than 5000 vehicles.

In addition, Citroen Versailles sold a total of 43016 vehicles in 2022. After entering 2022, the performance of DPCA has obviously recovered in the domestic market, and Versailles, as a brand-new model, plays an important role, which is the best-selling model under DPCA. In addition, the brightest seller on the list is BYD Seal. Seals, a new model in BYD's ocean series, went on sale on July 29th, positioning a medium-sized pure electric sedan with a subsidised price range of 21.28-289800 yuan. According to the data, seal sales were 1726 in August, 9473 in September, 11267 in October, 15356 in November and 15378 in December, a trend that will make seals another popular model owned by BYD.

Generally speaking, in the field of medium-sized cars, the Camry and Accord among Japanese brands still take the lead with affordable concessions, while the sales of BMW 3-Series, Audi A4L and Mercedes-Benz C-Class models positioning luxury brands are also good, but as the new energy vehicle market continues to break out, the competition in this market segment will become more and more fierce.
