According to previous reports of automobile industry concern, the new generation Accord was officially unveiled at the 2022 Los Angeles Auto Show. The new car can be regarded as the eleventh generation model of Accord series. The domestic version of GAC Honda's new generation Accord has also been declared on the declaration catalogue of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It is expected that the new car will be introduced into China by GAC Honda and compete with Camry, Teana, Passat and other medium-sized cars after listing.

According to the comprehensive declaration drawing, the domestic model will also continue the design style of overseas version. The front face adopts hexagonal front air intake grille, the interior of the grille is filled with triangular grid elements, and the narrow headlight groups on both sides are connected with the front grille to form an integrated design. In addition, the front surround adopts a through-type cooling ventilation opening design, and the interior is decorated with black horizontal trim strips, which makes the overall look more sporty and younger. On the side of the car body, the bottom of the C-pillar of the new car adopts a very obvious sharp angle design, and the triangular window area behind the C-pillar has a certain reduction, which makes the sliding back angle of the roof from the B-pillar to the rear become larger, more coupe style. At the rear of the car, the new car as a whole is in the middle of the square, mainly based on simplicity. The taillights adopt the popular through-type design. At the same time, the internal details of the lamp group are optimized and upgraded, and the integrated visual effect is formed by two long and one short lamp belts. The smaller Honda LOGO is embedded in the middle of the trim strip. The hidden layout is adopted at the tail row. The small size "duck tail" on the tailbox cover is also retained.

In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new generation Accord are 4980/1860/1450mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2830 mm. As a reference, the length, width and height of the domestic Accord on sale are 4906/1862/1449mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2830 mm. The main change lies in the increase of 65mm in the length of the car, but the wheelbase is consistent with that of the current model. Overall, the length of the new car has increased by 74mm, but the width, height and wheelbase are basically the same as those of the current model. As a contrast, the length, width and height of the current Camry are 4885/1840/1455mm and the wheelbase is 2825mm respectively, while the Teana, which has just completed the mid-term modification, is 4906/1850/1450mm and the wheelbase is 2825 mm. The interior design of the new generation Accord is temporarily unknown, but is expected to be consistent with overseas models. With reference to overseas models, the 11th generation Accord is equipped with a 10.2-inch LCD dashboard and a 12.3-inch suspended center screen, the largest size of all Honda models at present. It should be noted that the 12.3-inch floating center screen is not a new standard. The size of the low-profile model center screen is only 7 inches, but Apple CarPlay and Android Auto interconnect are standard throughout the series. In terms of power, the new generation Accord is equipped with a 1.5T turbocharged engine of model L15CH/L15CJ, with a maximum power of 141 kW and a peak torque of 260 N·m. The transmission system matches the CVT continuously variable transmission. The new car is expected to offer an oil-electric hybrid model with a hybrid system consisting of a 2.0L naturally aspirated engine and an electric motor, matched by an E-CVT gearbox. In contrast, the overseas version of the top-equipped model will be equipped with a 2.0L hybrid system with a maximum power of 152 kW and a peak torque of 335 N·m.

As a classic model owned by Honda, Accord has a history of 38 years since its birth. Up to now, the development of Accord has undergone ten updates and iterations. The 10th generation Accord was launched in China on April 16,2018, and the 10th generation mid-term modified model was launched on October 9,2021, with a price of 169,800 - 259,800 yuan. According to the replacement cycle of 5-6 years, the model exposed this time is the 11th generation Accord.

In the domestic market, the model currently on sale is the mid-term modification of the tenth generation Accord. Although it is at the end of the product period, its sales performance is still strong. According to the data of new car traffic insurance, the accumulated sales volume of Honda Accord in 2022 was 223,200 vehicles, up 12.37% compared with last year. By contrast, Toyota Camry sold 250,800 vehicles, up 18.74% compared with last year. The competition between the two was very fierce, while Nissan Teana was gradually widened by the two. The sales volume in 2022 was only 147,300 vehicles, down 9.24% compared with last year.

According to previous news, the new generation Accord will be introduced into the domestic market by GAC Honda this year, and Accord and Yingshi are sister models to each other. Dongfeng Honda is also expected to launch the replacement Yingshi in 2023. As for the starting price of the new generation Accord, it is expected to remain at about 192,600 yuan. As a contrast, the current price range of Accord sold in China is 169,800 - 259,800 yuan. It should be noted that, or considering that the domestic new energy market is relatively hot at present, the application drawing of GAC Honda brand-new Accord plug-in hybrid model also appears in the declaration catalogue of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The declared model is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system composed of 2.0L engine + motor, among which the maximum engine power is 109kW and the motor power is 135kW. The launch of this model may further improve the sales volume of Accord.
