As can be seen from the spy photos exposed, some changes have taken place in the appearance of the new ID.3. The interior of the new ID.3 has not been revealed in the spy photos, but it is not expected to be much different from the current model. At the same time, the size of the central control screen will be increased from 10 inches to 12 inches, while the center console will be redesigned to accommodate a pair of cup holders. It is also the first time that the two car companies have put into production models based on the MEB platform. In January 2021, the FAW-Volkswagen ID.4 CROZZ model was booked and the price was announced at the same time. At the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, FAW-Volkswagen ID.6 CROZZ/ SAIC Volkswagen ID.6 X was officially unveiled. The new car is the second model based on MEB modular electric platform, positioning medium and large pure electric SUV, using 3 rows of 6 seats / 7 seats layout. In June 2021, SAIC-Volkswagen ID.6 X was officially listed, with a subsidized price range of 23.99-335900 yuan. At the Chengdu Auto Show in 2021, SAIC-Volkswagen officially launched the new compact pure electric vehicle ID.3, which is also SAIC-Volkswagen's third model derived from the MEB platform after ID.4 X and ID.6 X. it is also the most entry-level product. In October 2021, SAIC-Volkswagen ID.3 was officially listed, with a price of 15.99-173900 yuan.

Perhaps the lack of fierce competition in Europe and fewer models of the same class as Volkswagen ID.3 made it popular with consumers after its launch, with sales of more than 8000 units in the first month and more than 10,000 in October, surpassing Renault Zoe and Tesla Model 3 to become the top seller in the European electric vehicle market. However, in the domestic market is different, ID.3 in the Chinese market is not as expected, compared with the same class of products, ID.3 endurance advantage is not obvious, and as a hatchback car, ID.3 body length is very close to golf, such models are actually no longer popular in the Chinese market, consumers prefer large space models. Data show that ID.3 sold 24274 vehicles in China in 2022, lagging behind ID.4 and ID.6.
