On January 24th, the official chart of the new Polestar 2 officially announced that the appearance and power of the new car have been comprehensively improved compared with the current model. at present, the new car has been pre-sold in overseas markets and is expected to be delivered in the European market in the third quarter of this year.

In terms of appearance, the biggest change of the new car is that the front face adopts a brand-new design style. specifically, the front face is replaced with a closed grille with a driving assistance camera in the middle of the grille, which is officially called "SmartZone" design, with headlamp groups similar to the Tomahawk on both sides, with a high degree of recognition after lighting, and the surrounding part has also been redesigned, blackening the front lip components to make the overall visual effect of the new car more concise.

The new car has smooth lines on the side of the body, and a waistline extends from the front to the rear, with a slightly downward sloping roof line, which makes the new car full of movement, and the new car uses brand-new 20-inch alloy wheels to make the visual feel more dynamic. In the rear part, the new car does not change too much, which is basically consistent with the cash model, the taillights are designed through, and the blackened rear encirclement at the bottom echoes with the front face.

Power is the biggest change in the new car, the new car is equipped with a new drive motor and battery pack, and the single-motor version no longer uses the front motor, but is replaced by the rear motor layout. The maximum power of the new single-motor rear-drive model is 299 horsepower and the torque is 489 Nm. For comparison, the current model has a maximum power of 231 horsepower and a torque of 329 Nm. In addition, the new dual-motor model is equipped with a brand new rear motor, with a maximum output of 427 horsepower and a peak torque of 740 Nm, which is also higher than that of cash. The maximum power of the optional performance kit can be increased to 455 horsepower; the long-life version uses a brand new battery with a capacity of 82 kWh and faster charging speed. In terms of battery life, the single-motor standard version matches 69 kWh battery pack with a range of 518 km under WLTP conditions, the single-motor long-lasting version matches 82 kWh battery pack with a range of 635 km, and the dual-motor version matches 78 kWh battery pack with 435km mileage.

Polestar is a joint venture brand between Volvo and Geely, positioning the electric high-performance car brand. As an independent electric high-performance car brand, Ji Xing has been against Standard Tesla from the very beginning and imitated the development route of Tesla. At the beginning of its establishment, it launched its first model, Polestar 1, which locates a two-door sports car, with a price of up to 1.45 million yuan, but the high price is not suitable for mass consumers. Figures show that only 24 Polestar 1 vehicles were sold in 2020.

On February 27, 2019, Polar Star launched its first pure electric car, Polar 2, which is based on Volvo CMA architecture and has a price range of 25.78 yuan to 338000 yuan, including 257800 yuan for a single motor, 282800 yuan for a single motor and 338000 yuan for a dual-motor long-range version. In terms of market competition, the car is directly marked with Tesla Model 3 after its launch, which is considered to be a volume model of Polar Star. However, Polar 2 has not become a competitor to Tesla Model 3, and its sales performance in the market after listing is also very mediocre. According to the data, the cumulative global sales of Star cars in 2021 were 29000, but the authorities did not disclose the specific market performance. For comparison, Tesla sold 295000 vehicles in the Chinese market in the same year. The new powerful car-building brands Ulai, Xiaopeng and ideal sales are also close to 100000.

According to the plan, Polestar 3, Polestar 4, Polestar 5 and Polestar 6 will be launched in the future, among which Polestar 6, the first pure electric convertible sports car under Polar Star, was first launched in the domestic market on September 18 last year. There is a global limit of 500new cars, of which only 10 are in the Chinese market and the pre-price is 1.68 million yuan. Officials have revealed that Polestar 6 will be mass-produced completely with reference to the Polestar O2 concept car in the future. The new car will be based on a new self-developed all-aluminum bonding platform and will be officially launched in 2026. In addition, Polestar 3 positioning performance SUV will make its debut in China in the first half of this year, Polestar 4 positioning performance sedan SUV, will be launched in 2023, and Polestar 5 positioning four-door GT sports car will be launched in 2025. From the perspective of the new car promotion plan, by 2026, Star Motors will have a product lineup at the rate of launching new products every year, when there will be six mass-produced products, ranging from Polestar 1 to Polestar 6.

As for the future market performance of the new products, Nathan Foxhaw, president of Star China and Asia Pacific, said that in the future, the three Polestar products on 3-4-5 will well meet the needs of the Chinese market. For example, the Polestar 3max 4 is all SUV models, taking into account the preferences of Chinese consumers, but the industry believes that even if Polar Star speeds up the product layout, it may not be able to change its decline in the global market.

In terms of sales target, Star had earlier set an annual sales target of 65000 vehicles in 2022, but affected by the epidemic and the supply of spare parts, it had to reduce its annual sales target to 50, 000 vehicles. According to the latest figures, the global sales of Star cars in 2022 was 51500, an increase of 80% over the same period last year, while according to the data of new car traffic insurance, only 1717 were sold in China in 2022. For the sales target for 2023, Star estimates that the global sales of Polar Star will reach 80,000 vehicles in 2023, an increase of nearly 60% over the same period last year.
