In 2022, the Volkswagen brand will be the top seller of a single brand, but it is hard to escape the decline in sales. Compared with 2021, the Volkswagen brand fell 8.25% for the whole year, with total sales of 2.2059 million vehicles. From the point of view of the product camp, Lang Yi is still the best-selling model of the Volkswagen brand, with annual sales of 223000 vehicles. It fell 18.3% year-on-year, while Suiteng and Bora fell 8.2% and 27.1%, respectively. Among the top 10 models, Passat, Mai Teng and Ling du have achieved growth, especially Ling du, whose monthly sales are basically maintained at more than 10,000 vehicles after upgrading in 2022. In addition, the Volkswagen brand has also made some progress in electrification, with ID.4 sales totaling 77300 vehicles for the year.

In the BBA market, BMW has been number one for many years in a row. In 2022, the BMW brand ranked first with sales of 770200 vehicles, but fell 6.21% from a year earlier. In terms of specific models, the top three models are BMW 5-Series (182900), BMW 3-Series (150700) and BMW X3 (129600). Compared with 2021, all three models have declined in varying degrees, of which the BMW X3 has declined the most. However, the smooth domestic production of the BMW X5 in 2022 recovered some of the losses, with annual sales of 65500 vehicles, which is the only medium-and large-scale SUV made in the BBA camp.

Although it doesn't sell as much as BMW, it is the only brand in BBA that has achieved growth. Data show that Mercedes-Benz brand sales of 759800 vehicles in 2022, a slight increase of 0.13% year-on-year. On the whole, although affected by COVID-19 epidemic and supply chain bottlenecks and other adverse factors, but the overall impact is not significant. In terms of specific models, the best-selling model of the Mercedes-Benz brand is the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, with annual sales of 154700 vehicles, followed by the Mercedes-Benz GLC with 149000 vehicles and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class with 146500 vehicles, accounting for 59.3% of the total sales of the Mercedes-Benz brand.

In 2022, the Mercedes-Benz brand launched pure electric models such as EQA, EQB and EQE in China, but the overall sales were not satisfactory. Data show that the cumulative insured volume of EQA, EQB, EQC and EQE in 2022 is 3420, 4057, 3211 and 1627 respectively, with a total sales volume of only 12315 vehicles. For the Mercedes-Benz brand, the electric models launched in China have not been recognized, and the electrified transformation is still imminent. As for Audi, its sales have been lower than those of BMW and Mercedes-Benz from beginning to end, as well as in 2022. Data show that Audi brand sales of 642800 vehicles in 2022, down 6.99% from the same period last year, not only ranked lowest in the BBA brand, but also declined more than BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Subdivided models, sales of the top three models are still Audi Q5L (146300), Audi A4L (143700), Audi A6L (119400), the first two models are year-on-year growth, only Audi A6L declined. However, among the top 10 models in sales, seven models declined compared with the same period last year, which is also the main reason for the decline in Audi brand sales. It should be noted that the current Audi brand sales are still from FAW-Audi, SAIC Audi delivered in 2022, its Audi A7L, Audi Q5 e-tron, Audi Q6 sales downturn in the end market, it is difficult to have an impact on the overall sales trend of the Audi brand.

Porsche is positioned as an ultra-luxury brand, with an increase of 1.26% in China in 2022 compared with the same period last year. However, although China has been Porsche's largest single market in the world for eight consecutive years, it is the only market in the world that has declined, down 2.5% from a year earlier, according to official Porsche data.

Porsche entered the Chinese market in 2001 and became Porsche's largest single market in the world in 2015. It has refreshed its sales performance in China for 20 consecutive years and reached an all-time high in 2021. In other words, 2022 is Porsche's first decline in nearly 20 years. Fundamentally speaking, the epidemic and the supply of spare parts do affect the performance of the Porsche brand, and the "lack of electric steering column" once put it under the pressure of public opinion, which may also affect its market sales.

Chinese automobiles are experiencing a change, with the transformation from traditional fuel vehicles to new energy vehicles, and independent brands encroaching on the joint venture brand market. Overseas brands are facing a difficult choice of whether to change or not. At present, with the intensification of competition in China's automobile market, BYD, Changan and Geely continue to make progress, and in the face of the accelerated changes in China's automobile market, the major multinational car companies are actively adjusting their strategies and active layout in order to cope with the new changes in China's automobile market. the market scale is also showing a trend of rapid expansion.

In 2022, Chinese brands rely on new energy vehicles to achieve growth, and in the wave of new energy vehicles, although the major multinational car companies actively respond, but the electric models launched in the Chinese market are difficult to recognize. In 2023, the competition in the Chinese market will further intensify, and more and more brands will withdraw from China. There is a good chance that this will not happen to the above brands, but life in the Chinese market will become more and more difficult.
