AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)04/26 Report--

In October 2017, FAW Toyota Prado 2.7L model officially stopped production, after that, the domestic "overbearing" only 3.5L model to support the facade, and now the Prado 3.5L model has also sounded the bell to stop production.

FAW Toyota Prado 3.5L models affected by China's six emission regulations will stop production in June 2020, according to a document from the Chengdu Bureau of Ecological Environment. Prior to this, Toyota officials have made it clear that the Prado 2.0T model will not be launched worldwide in the future, so it seems that there will be no domestic Prado after June next year.

Prado, also known as "overbearing", to a certain extent, can be considered a smaller Lande Cool Luze, but also the first choice for many off-road entry models. FAW Toyota made a domestic Prado 2.7L in 2015, but in October 2017, two and a half years later, it was forced to stop production due to fuel consumption limits, after which only 3.5L engines were available in China.

Now, with the advent of the sixth national emission standard, the Prado 3.5L model will be discontinued.

From July 1 this year, many places across the country will uniformly implement the sixth national emission standard. Compared with the "national five standards", the "national sixth standard" is more stringent. For example, light vehicles have increased the emission limits of carbon monoxide, total hydrocarbons, non-methane total hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides and particulates by about 30% and 50%, which are intended to significantly reduce pollutant emissions and reduce oil and gas volatilization.

With the launch of the sixth grade, the elimination of old cars in China will also begin to accelerate, and many car companies are already feeling the pressure in the face of the growing pressure of the sixth national sixth, not to mention "old cars" like Prado.

In addition to the sixth grade, the Prado 3.5L model with large engine engine also affects the average fuel consumption of Toyota. According to the two national mandatory standards of "passenger vehicle fuel consumption limit" and "passenger vehicle fuel consumption Evaluation method and Index" revised by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, January 1, 2016 to 2020 The average fuel consumption of passenger cars produced by all car companies must be further reduced from 6.9 litres of 100 kilometers in the third stage to 5.0 liters of 100 kilometers.

The 2018 Prado 3.5L will replace the full-time all-wheel drive system with a time-sharing all-wheel drive system with automatic start and stop, but the fuel consumption is still 11L/100km, which is obviously unable to adapt to the market after 2020.

However, Prado 3.5L model sales are not bad, with total sales of 34709 vehicles in 2018 and 8520 in the first three months of this year, basically maintaining monthly sales at 2, 000 to 3, 000.

In the past two years, FAW Toyota will make a major adjustment to its product line. Starting from 2017, Ruizhi will stop production, Crown 2.5V6 and Prado 2.7L will stop production one after another, and domestic Prado 3.5L will withdraw from the Chinese market in June next year. Since then, there will be no domestic Prado. It can be said that policies and regulations are going to strangle another good car.

However, fans who like this model can still choose the Middle Eastern version of Prado, and the parallel imported Prado has castrated full-time all-wheel drive, which is also loved by off-road riders.
