The new car adopts the new design of the Red Flag family and provides optional layouts of five, six and seven seats, all equipped with 2.0T engines. It is expected that the new car will be located in the medium and large SUV market between HS5 and HS7 after its launch. It is understood that the new car is expected to be released in June.

In terms of appearance, the front face of the red flag HS6 basically continues the iconic overall design of the red flag brand, the straight waterfall net almost occupies the entire front face, and the internal texture adopts lattice layout, together with the slender LED headlights and front bars on both sides, which makes the whole front look more athletic and younger. In addition, the split headlight group is integrated with the middle net, the rib line of the engine hatch is raised, and the central red flag logo extends back from the grille, which looks very imposing.

On the side of the body, the new car still adopts a relatively calm design style, the periphery of the window is plated with chrome strips to improve the texture, the waistline uses a penetrating design, and the intermittent treatment is used to create a certain sense of hierarchy. In the rear part of the car, the Red Flag HS6 uses a smoked black penetrating taillight group, and the middle is decorated with a penetrating chrome trim, which stretches the visual length to a certain extent. In terms of power, Hongqi HS6 carries a 2.0T engine with a tail marked "45TD", its maximum engine power is 185kW, its peak torque is 380N ·m, its transmission system matches an eight-block self-integrated gearbox, and offers two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive models. In fact, Red Flag HS6 carries 2.0T high-power engine, while Red Flag HS5 carries 2.0T low-power engine, the future Red Flag HS6 is also expected to provide 2.0T low-power version, the tail mark or "40TD", the overall parameters are equivalent to Red Flag HS5.

As one of the latest products of FAW Red Flag, Red Flag HS6 is defined as "New Urban Family SUV" and offers optional layouts of five, six and seven seats. all of them are equipped with 2.0T high-power engine and match 8-speed manual transmission. In the future, Red Flag HS6 will position the medium and large SUV market between HS5 and HS7. As a reference, the HS5 guidance price range of Red Flag is 18.38-249800 yuan, and the HS7 of Red Flag is 27.58-459800 yuan. Thus it can be seen that the guidance price of Hongqi HS6 is likely to be between 240000 and 280000 yuan, thus forming a certain price connection with the medium and high-end models of Hongqi HS5 and the medium-and low-equipped models of Hongqi HS7.

As a medium and large SUV, Red Flag HS6 is expected to compete with Toyota Henlanda, Volkswagen and other models after its launch. As a reference, the guidance price range of Volkswagen Tuang is 29.50-405000 yuan (5052/1989/1773mm, wheelbase 2980mm), while that of Toyota Handa is 26.88-348800 yuan (4965/1930/1750mm, wheelbase 2850mm). However, the final pricing is the key to whether Red Flag HS6 can become a dark horse for medium and large cars.

As we all know, Red Flag is a brand of China FAW. Sales have grown rapidly since the launch of a new brand strategy in 2016, making it a dark horse in the car market. However, after entering 2022, the strong sales trend of Red Flag began to relax due to the impact of the epidemic and the supply of spare parts. According to the number of new car compulsory insurance purchases, Hongqi brand sold a total of 286000 vehicles in 2022, an increase of 5.31% over the same period last year. Compared with the previously proposed sales target of 400000 vehicles in 2022, the completion rate is only 72 per cent.

Products, in addition to the exposure of Red Flag H6, Red Flag HS6, FAW Red Flag will also launch a new Red Flag HS3, positioning compact SUV, the overall design is more or less the same as Red Flag HS6. According to the plan, the total sales of Red Flag will reach 1 million by 2025, including 400000 new energy vehicles, but for Red Flag, more competitive products are still needed to meet the sales target.
