AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)02/20 Report--
The new power that once had the best chance of success is now hovering on the edge of the market. It is understood that Weima has successively set up two vehicle production bases in Wenzhou, Zhejiang and Huanggang, Hubei, with a total production capacity of about 250000 vehicles, but through media exploration of the two production bases, it is found that the two major factories are currently in a state of shutdown.
In January 2015, Weimar announced its establishment and set up a research and development team in Germany. In November 2016, Weima New Energy Automobile Intelligent Industrial Park laid the foundation in Oujiang Estuary, Wenzhou City, covering an area of 1000 mu, equivalent to 100 standard football fields. In January 2018, Weima acquired Zhongshun Automobile holding Co., Ltd. and obtained the production qualification. In March 2018, the Weimar Wenzhou factory was successfully completed. In September 2018, Weima's first production car, EX5, was officially put on the market with a price of 14.68-198800 yuan, taking the lead in breaking the doubt of PPT car building.
Weimar, which had an almost perfect start, took the lead in mass production and listing of new cars, and was the first to obtain the qualification for car production. It is known as the most promising new power company, but in the past two years, Weima has been getting slower and slower and has been squeezed out of the list by "younger generations." behind dismal sales, it is often said that production has been shut down.
Recently, "Leopard change" visited the Weima Wenzhou base and found that the factory has been shut down, and the huge base is almost empty. The attendance table at the front desk of the workshop shows that since November 2022, the workshop has been in a state of semi-shutdown, especially in the first half of December, when employees clock in only five days, one at a time, and the stay time is about half an hour.
Weimar Wenzhou base south gate parking lot, hundreds of parking spaces sparsely parked dozens of unlicensed Weima models, basically inventory cars. The parking area at the north gate of the park is even larger, and it is Weima's vehicle delivery center. There are thousands of parking spaces visually, but there are almost no parked vehicles, let alone large trucks to pick up goods.
To the south of the vehicle delivery center is the car body unloading area, the door of the factory is closed and all kinds of equipment are in a state of shutdown. The open space at the door of the car body unloading area is covered with tires, front and rear bumpers and other accessories. The information on the outer packaging of accessories, as well as the Weima JIS pull list scattered on the spot, show that most of these materials are imported from February to June 2022.
Not far from the body unloading area is the stamping production department, battery workshop, spraying workshop, the same door is closed, no staff in and out. The doors and windows of some workshops are sealed and signed on January 4, 2023. On the first floor of the painting workshop and opposite to the final assembly workshop is the staff canteen, but there is no food, no chefs and service staff.
The final assembly workshop is the last production link of the whole vehicle, and it is the key to ensure the quality and production progress of the car, but it has also stopped here. In the center of the workshop is the production line, many vehicles have not had time to install steering wheels, seats, bumpers, tires, they encounter factory shutdown. Months later, these semi-finished products are still hanging alone on the assembly line bracket, waiting for a possible resumption of work in the future.
In addition to the Wenzhou base, Weima also has a production base in Huanggang, Hubei province, and the situation of this factory is much the same as that of the Wenzhou factory. It is understood that the Weima Huanggang factory mainly produces Weima W6 models. At its peak, the factory had more than 600 employees, but now the Huanggang factory has almost become an empty city. Except for the occasional entry and exit of one or two personnel on duty at the door, there is no sign of activity in the whole factory area. Since the second half of 2022, the factory has been basically shut down, with only a small number of employees on duty every day. Through thinking with the Wenzhou factory, the security guards of the Huanggang factory have basically been gone, and employees can only be transferred to part-time jobs as security guards. There is no food in the staff canteen, and occasionally a few employees pass by the door of the workshop to pick up takeout at the factory gate.
The shutdown of the Weima plant has affected employees, suppliers, dealers and car owners. The shutdown of the Weima automobile factory is due to the lack of cash and cash equivalents on the paper, resulting in suppliers no longer supplying goods to Weimar, thus affecting the production qualification of the whole vehicle. The whole vehicle can not be produced normally, which is undoubtedly a big blow to the employees who rely on the performance. Every month, the employees can only rely on the basic salary, and more and more employees choose to leave. At the same time, Weimar was unable to supply dealers on time, causing dealers to face losses, but users could not pick up the car when ordering cars, and eventually dealers had no choice but to stop selling Weima models and sell other car brands instead. In addition, corporate survival crises, executive turnover, layoffs and pay cuts, factory shutdowns, and so on, have increased consumers' worries about the brand business environment. Generally speaking, Weima, which can not build a car, sell a car or pay a salary, is already besieged on all sides.
At present, Weima can only rely on reverse takeover listing, which is the only chance for Weima to survive, but it is not easy. Weima still has many problems to solve before listing. And even Weima, which is successfully listed in Hong Kong, may not be successful. After all, it has become more and more cautious to invest in new power brands, not to mention an embattled, crisis-ridden marginal company.
"Weima did encounter some difficulties in the past year due to the objective impact of the epidemic and market environment," Shen Hui, chairman of Weima, said on Weibo on February 17. We are adjusting through a series of measures to reduce costs and increase efficiency, to ensure the resumption of work and production, and to ensure the experience of end users. Only by learning from the bitter experience can we pack up and start again! " Of course, suppliers, dealers and car owners all hope that Weima can return to the mainstream market so that their losses can be minimized, but the market will never be human, and Weima may not die miserably, but its ending is not destined to be very comfortable.
