On February 21, Dongfeng Honda officially announced its brand-new SUV preview map and announced that the new car was officially named "HR-V". It is understood that the new car is another brand-new model after CR-V, XR-V and UR-V, positioning compact SUV, providing 1.5T engine and 2.0-liter hybrid system two power options, the new car is expected to debut at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show held in April, officially launched in the first half of this year.

According to the latest forecast drawing and previous declaration drawing, in terms of appearance, the front face of the new car adopts large-area blackened air intake grille, the center is Honda "H" brand logo, the internal structure of the headlight groups on both sides is unique, and the daytime running lights above the LED lamp group are connected by a slender chrome trim strip to form a through-type shape with strong recognition. The lower sides of the new car are decorated with L-shaped air intakes and the bottom is decorated with strip air intakes. According to the declaration information, the new car offers a choice of fuel version and hybrid version. The main difference between the two appearance designs is that the internal layout of the front grille is slightly different. The fuel version adopts black honeycomb grid, while the hybrid version adopts black banner trim.

On the side of the car body, the window frame of the new car has also been blackened, which is more delicate with bright black wheel eyebrows. In terms of body size, the width and height of the new car are 4569/1840/1621 (1621) mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2655 mm. The compact SUV is positioned between XR-V and CR-V. For reference, the length, width and height of GAC Honda ZR-V are 4568/1840/1621mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2655mm, which is between Binzhi and Haoying.

At the rear of the car, the new car adopts a blackened through-tail lamp group design, which makes the visual effect more sporty. There are also differences in design between fuel version and hybrid version. Fuel version adopts exhaust layout with two outlets on both sides, hybrid version adopts all-black design and hidden exhaust layout, and "e:HEV" logo is added at the lower right corner of tailgate to indicate vehicle identity.

In terms of power, the fuel version is equipped with a 1.5T turbocharged engine with a maximum power of 134 kW and a maximum torque of 240 Nm, matching the CVT gearbox; the oil-electric hybrid model is equipped with a 2.0L hybrid system with a maximum engine power of 105 kW, matching the CVT gearbox.

Dongfeng Honda HR-V can be regarded as the sister model of GAC Honda ZR-V. On the whole, although the two models are sister models to each other, there are obvious differences in appearance. For example, the logo of the new car is no longer placed on the front grille, but directly moved to the part connected with the hood, making the vehicle look more recognizable.

As for the price of the new car, the official has not disclosed. As a reference, the selling price range of Binzhi currently on sale is 1278 - 176,800 yuan; the selling price of current Haoying is 1698 - 235,800 yuan; and the selling price of GAC Honda ZR-V is 1599 - 195,900 yuan. It is expected that after the launch of the new car, it will compete with Toyota Corolla Sharp, Front Landa; Volkswagen Tuyue, Song Discovery; Nissan Xiaoke equivalent models.

According to the latest sales data, Honda sold 64193 terminal cars in China in January 2023, down 56.2% year-on-year. Honda China said it was mainly affected by the Spring Festival holiday. Among them, Dongfeng Honda sold 23909 vehicles, down 64.14% year-on-year. Among the subdivided models, CR-V sold 7006 vehicles at the highest level, followed by Civic 6645 vehicles.

According to the official website, Dongfeng Honda models on sale at present include CR-V, XR-V, Civic, Inspires and UR-V models. With the launch of HR-V models in the first half of the year, Dongfeng Honda product matrix is further improved. According to the plan, Dongfeng Honda will also launch a brand-new generation of Yingshi models and launch a brand-new independent brand this year. At the sales expectation level, Dongfeng Honda said that Honda's sales of pure electric vehicles and fuel cell vehicles accounted for 40% in 2030,80% in 2035 and 100% in 2040. After 2030, new fuel vehicles will no longer be launched in the Chinese market, and all new models will be electric vehicles such as pure electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles.
