In terms of power, Mazda CX-5 is equipped with 2.0L and 2.5L naturally aspirated engines, of which 2.0L engine maximum power is 114kW, peak torque is 200N ·m; 2.5L engine maximum power is 144kW, peak torque is 252N ·m. In terms of transmission system, the matching is 6-speed manual self-integrated gearbox.

As a compact SUV, Mazda CX-5 competitors directly target Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4 Rongfang and other models. By contrast, the Mazda CX-5 has a younger posture. While taking into account the practical properties of the SUV, the Mazda CX-5 has a good reputation in driving control. However, the official did not give an internal reason for the price cut, and the market speculated that it might release pricing space for the listing of Mazda CX-50.

The Mazda CX-50, the first model launched after the merger of North and South Mazda, was officially unveiled in December 2022 and will be officially launched in May 2023. In terms of appearance, Mazda CX-50 adopts a brand new family design language, the larger front grille structure remains the same but the shape becomes flatter, and the black grille frame extends to both sides to connect with the headlamp group, forming the integrated design of grille and headlamp. In the interior part, CX-50 is still the classic design style of Mazda, the small-size central control screen is still set above the center console that is convenient for drivers to observe, and the instrument is also a combination of liquid crystal and mechanical, but the new family style makes the car look more rigid, with a combination of technology and texture in the design of three-spoke multi-function steering wheel and penetrating air conditioning outlet.

In terms of power, the overseas version of Mazda CX-50 is equipped with 2.5L naturally aspirated engine and 2.5T in-line four-cylinder turbocharged engine with a maximum power of 187hp / 250hp respectively. The transmission system matches the six-speed manual self-integrated gearbox. It is expected that only 2.5L engine will be provided when introduced into China.

In fact, the CX-50 can be directly regarded as the replacement model of the CX-5, the second generation CX-5 officially launched on September 21, 2017, and now it has reached the end of the product, but so far there is no news of a new generation of CX-5, accompanied by the imminent launch of CX-50. From the point of view of product positioning, both CX-5 and CX-50 are positioned as compact SUV, but compared with CX-5, the length and wheelbase of CX-50 are lengthened in an all-round way, which can be directly regarded as the replacement of CX-5. It is boldly predicted that the Changan Mazda will adjust the price of the CX-5 or make room for the listing of the CX-50. After the two models are sold in the same house for a period of time, if there is no new generation of models on the market, CX-5 may withdraw from the market and be replaced by the more powerful CX-50.

According to the official website of Changan Mazda, models currently on sale include Unksera, Atez, CX-30/CX-30 EV, CX-4, CX-5, CX-8 and other models. According to the insurance figures, Changan Mazda sold 107602 vehicles in 2022, of which Onksera was 62478, CX-5 was 17511, CX-30 was 11708, Atez was 7314, CX-4 was 6580 and CX-8 was 1276. It is not difficult to see from the data that 70 per cent of Changan Mazda's sales come from Anksella, while CX-5 sales are second only to Onksera, and there may be some room for growth if CX-50 is priced properly.
