On March 6, Xiaopeng P7i ushered in its debut. As a medium-term revamped model, the Xiaopeng P7i is basically the same as the current model in appearance, with the main changes in vehicle function, comfort configuration, three-electricity system, handling performance, intelligent platform and other upgrades, especially in terms of auxiliary driving, so that the veteran of the Xiaopeng family will return to the front line.

According to the law of the development of automotive products, the appearance of mid-term revamped and brand-new models will change to a greater extent compared with newer models, but Xiaopeng P7i seems to be an exception, and there is no obvious difference between its appearance and the current models on sale. In this regard, Xiaopeng said that the reason why the P7i has not made a big change in appearance, but also hope to allow users to continue the design awareness of P7. However, the "Tramway report" believes that the current market performance of Xiaopeng is relatively cold, and the P7 is the core model, and not changing the appearance is a conservative market performance, as far as possible to reduce market disputes so as to ensure the market heat of P7. After all, if P7 also declines, then Xiaopeng will also face a huge development crisis.

From the overall appearance, the core upgrade of the P7i is the addition of two 126-line lidars at the headlamp position. Due to the addition of lidar, the size of the P7i in the headlight area is slightly larger than that of the old model, and uses full LED headlights, which not only has a higher brightness, but also has a 20% higher high-light range than the old model.

On the side of the body, the P7i also continues the design style of the cash model, still using frameless doors with hidden doorknobs, but all four doors are equipped with electric suction function. In the rear part, the design of the P7i is consistent with the old model, but in order to echo the front, the size of the taillight group has also increased. In terms of size, the length, width and height of P7i are 4888/1896/1450mm and wheelbase 2998mm respectively.

According to officials, the P7i is equipped with a second-generation intelligent driving assistance system, XNGP, and two lidars are added to the sensor. The intelligent driving assistance chip is equipped with a dual Orin-X chip, which provides 508TOPS high computing power. In addition to two lidars, the P7i is equipped with five millimeter wave radars and 12 cameras (4 look around cameras, 2 side front cameras, 2 side rear cameras, 2 binocular cameras, 1 rearview camera, 1 car intelligent camera). A total of 31 intelligent sensing elements. Based on the above upgrades, P7i can achieve "panoramic driving assistance", including high-speed NGP, urban NGP, LCC enhanced version and other intelligent auxiliary driving.

In terms of interior decoration, the overall interior design of the P7i is not very different from the old model, but a new interior color called "Qiyu Grey" has been added. The P7i still has a 10.25in full LCD dashboard and 14.96in central control screen size, but it has been replaced with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 intelligent cockpit chip, which makes the response speed and fluency of the car system much better than that of the old model.

The biggest design change of the P7i comes from the front handrail area, with an oblique mobile phone wireless charging board and a lifting cup holder, leaving more storage space at the bottom. The armbox has also been changed to open on the side, and the interior is also equipped with a fragrance system. In addition, the front and rear seats of P7i have been redesigned to provide stronger support and more comfortable ride. Both front and rear seats provide heating function and ventilation function is also equipped with front seats.

In terms of power, the P7i will still offer two options: single-motor rear-drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive. Among them, the rear-drive model is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor with maximum power 203kW and peak torque of 440 N ·m, and the acceleration time of 0-100km / h is 6.4s; the four-wheel drive model is based on the rear-drive model by adding an induction asynchronous motor to drive the front wheel, the system integrated power 348kW, comprehensive torque 757N ·m, and the acceleration time of 0-100km / h is increased to 3.9s. In addition, the P7i still uses the front double-arm and rear five-link independent suspension.

Data show that Xiaopeng delivered a total of 120757 new cars in 2022, of which 59066 P7 models were delivered.

P7 is the second model launched by Xiaopeng Motor, and it is also the best-selling model of Xiaopeng Motor. Although Xiaopeng P7 has been on the market for some years, its degree of heat has not abated. As a medium-term revamped model, the P7i continues the design style of the current model, but it has changed greatly in terms of intelligent driving ability, vehicle performance and handling, charging and energy consumption efficiency and the digital level of the whole vehicle. Compared with some new models that only change the appearance, while the engine, gearbox and other core components are still the same, the P7i is more in line with the market demand for medium-term changes.

At present, Xiaopeng's models on sale include G3i, P7, P5 and G9, of which G3 is Xiaopeng's first production car, P7 is Xiaopeng's best-selling model, and G9 is the first product with a price of more than 300000 yuan.

Xiaopeng car changes for P7, which is not only the trend of products, but also the trend of sales. 2021 is Xiaopeng's "highlight moment". In this year, Xiaopeng delivered a total of 98155 new cars, pressing Kilai and ideal, and firmly ranked first in the new force of car-building, but in 2022, Xiaopeng's delivery volume suddenly encountered Waterloo. Although the annual delivery reached 120757 vehicles, it was surpassed by ideal, Ulai, Nezha and other new force companies, not even half of the annual sales target set by themselves.

In September 2022, the G9 model was launched, which became a turning point for Xiaopeng Motor. This is a model with a starting price of more than 300000 yuan, which bears the important responsibility of raising Xiaopeng's gross profit margin, but because of the complex matching logic and the market strategy of high price and low configuration, the G9 caused a storm of public opinion as soon as it was launched, forcing Xiaopeng to urgently adjust its pricing strategy. In the end, the G9 model failed to account for Xiaopeng's sales, with monthly sales basically maintained at the level of 2000, with a peak of only 4020.

Xiaopeng car sales have been in the doldrums in the past two months. A total of 11228 new cars were delivered from January to February in 2022, of which 6010 were delivered in February, down 3.41 per cent from a year earlier, according to official data.
