Compared with the degree of collapse of the two cars, the Model Y is more tragic, its main driving side longitudinal member has completely bent and completely collapsed to the innermost, while the main driving side longitudinal member of the ARCFOX T is relatively intact. Compared with the fuel car, the pure electric vehicle needs to have higher rigidity to protect the battery pack at the bottom and avoid thermal runaway after the collision, which is the reason why the two cars perform better after the collision with other fuel vehicles. From the comparison of dummies, both cars perform well, but the ARCFOX T is slightly better.
After the collision, the blogger also dismantled the two cars to compare the performance of the two cars more intuitively. The first is Model Y, the performance of the battery pack is relatively poor, and its battery pack has many deformations, which is the result of the heavy pressure on the longitudinal member of the main driving side, but fortunately there is no thermal runaway, while the ARCFOX T battery pack is very intact.
Looking at the body structure, Model Y is similar to the Japanese car. After the collision, the longitudinal beam completely collapses and presses directly to the firewall, which then squeezes back, causing the battery pack to deform in many places. The upper, middle and lower ends of the A column of Model Y are deformed, the lower end of the front column collapses, and the threshold beam has many deformations after extruding. On the contrary, the performance of ARCFOX T is much better, its A column does not appear any deformation, and the front column is intact, only the periphery of the threshold beam appears local deformation, but the situation is also better than that of Model Y. In the chassis part, there is a large area deformation of the front and rear floor of Model Y, while only the front floor of ARCFOX T is deformed.
According to Tesla in the previous collision mechanism test, whether it is Model 3 or Model Y, the results achieved are still relatively eye-catching. If it collides with a fuel vehicle of the same class, Model Y will most likely win. After all, as a pure electric vehicle, it has an absolute advantage in vehicle quality, but unfortunately its collision opponent is the stronger ARCFOX T, which does not have much advantage in comparison.
