On March 15, the official model map of Kia's new model EV9 was officially released in overseas markets. The new car positioning is medium and large SUV, based on E-GMP pure electric platform. The new car will be put into production in overseas markets in the third quarter and go on sale in the fourth quarter, with a starting price of about $56000 (about 390000 yuan). In addition, according to the official news, the new car will be officially launched in the domestic market on March 20, and it is planned to be introduced into the domestic market in 2024, after which it will compete with the same class model, such as the Lailai ES8.

From this official picture, the new car design highly restore the concept car design style, the overall shape is relatively simple and strong. The front face adopts the popular closed grille design of new energy models, with vertical LED light groups on both sides, brand LOGO above the hood, and the new car grille is suspected to be equipped with air vent design.

On the side of the body, the shape of the new car is more square, with soft curves and sharp lines on the side, and a dynamic waistline extends upward to the C column. The new car is also equipped with the popular hidden door handle, the traditional rearview mirror replaces the concept car's electronic rearview mirror, and the large-size two-tone wheels make the car feel more muscular. In the rear part, the new car taillight also uses a vertical LED taillight group, which echoes with the headlights. The bright black roof shark fin antenna combined with the roof spoiler assembly makes the whole car more distinctive.

In the interior part, the new car is equipped with Mercedes-Benz's 12.3-inch LCD instrument and 12.3-inch LCD central control integrated suspension screen, and the steering wheel is similar to Audi's four-spoke multi-function steering wheel. In the seat layout, the new car adopts 2x2 + 2 six-seat layout design and simultaneously launches seven-seater models for consumers to choose and buy.

In terms of power, the new car is based on the Electric Global Modular platform (E-GMP) and is expected to provide a combination of single / twin motors, matching a 77.4kwh battery pack with a maximum range of 540km.

Founded in 1944, Kia is a Korean multinational carmaker that has been in China for 20 years. In 2002, Kia Automobile, Dongfeng Automobile Group and Jiangsu Yueda Group jointly set up a joint venture company in China, with shares of 50%, 25% and 25% respectively. The data show that 2014-2016 was the highlight of Kia's sales in China, with annual sales of more than 600000 vehicles in each of the three years, including 650000 in 2016, but sales have fallen sharply since then, with sales of 359000, 370000, 289800 and 249000 respectively from 2017 to 2020.

In 2021, its sales dropped sharply to 152000 vehicles, and great changes have taken place in Kia in that year. Dongfeng Motor Group, one of Kia's joint ventures in China, officially withdrew from Dongfeng Yueda Kia. Kia also began its own "reform". Kia said that after the establishment of the new joint venture between Kia and Jiangsu Yueda Group, Kia will expand its investment to introduce more global models and new energy models. At the same time, Kia will gradually stop producing models under 100000 yuan.

On March 8th, Kia announced that it will hold the "2023 Asia China New Energy Strategy Conference" on the 20th of this month, when Kia will release China's medium-and long-term new energy strategy and unveil three new electric models: EV5 concept car, EV9 concept car and EV6GT, which means that Kia will speed up the electrification transformation process of the Chinese market. According to the plan, Kia plans to sell 1.2 million pure electric vehicles by 2030, 807000 by 2026, and finally reach the target of 1.2 million by 2030.
