However, he did not further elaborate on the details such as how the existing Audi A5 and Audi A7 will be named, both of which are positioned by coupe positioning.

According to Audi's latest naming, the future odd-numbered Audi new cars (such as A3, A5, A7) will still be equipped with traditional internal combustion engines, while even-numbered Audi new cars (such as A4, A6, A8) will be combined with the "e-tron" English logo to represent pure electric cars, such as the Audi A6 e-tron, which will be sold domestically. The market speculates that after A4 becomes A5, it will become A5 Sedan, while the original A5 will become A5 Sportback,A6 into A7. Of course, the new Audi A4 Avant is already in the spy photo road test stage and is expected to be officially released as the A5 Avant in a few months.

In addition, MarkusDuesmann said that even if the A4 and A6 electric cars are launched in the future, they will not give up the e-tron suffix, and the known models will include pure electric SUV such as Audi Q4 e-tron, Q6 e-tron and Audi Q8 e-tron, followed by Audi A4 e-tron, A6 e-tron and other pure electric cars. In addition, the Audi A8 electric model has been confirmed to make its debut in 2024 and is expected to be named the Audi A8 e-tron, although the name has not been officially mentioned by Audi.

Among the three Audi companies in China, currently FAW-Audi has MLB evo platform and MEB platform models, SAIC Audi has MEB platform models, and Audi FAW, the third joint venture company, will make Audi models based on PPE platform in the future. PPE platform is the electric vehicle platform specially built for high-end brands by Volkswagen Group.

In June 2022, Audi FAW's new PPE plant, Audi's first production base for pure electric vehicles in China, opened in Changchun. According to the plan, Audi FAW has a total investment of more than 18 billion yuan, and its production base is planned to cover an area of about 150ha with an annual production capacity of 150000 vehicles. Audi A6 e-tron, the first model, will not be put into production until 2024. In the future, Audi will build electric cars based on PPE platform, in which Audi A6 e-tron and Audi Q6 e-tron series will be the first to be put on the market. By 2025, Audi will provide five locally produced pure electric cars in the domestic market and about 30 new energy vehicles worldwide.

According to related reports, the domestic name of the A6 Avant e-tron concept car has been determined to be "E6L". Audi unveiled the A6 Avant e-tron concept car at the 2022 Guangzhou Auto Show, which was the debut of the new car. As the second concept model of the Audi A6 e-tron pure electric family, the new car will be built on the PPE platform and made in the PPE factory in Changchun, China.

On March 3, Audi China released its "Future production Plan" through its official WeChat account. Audi China said that from 2026, Audi's new models for the global market will be fully switched to pure electric cars, and the production of internal combustion engine models will be phased out by 2033. Audi will launch no fewer than 20 new cars in the next two years, half of which will no longer have internal combustion engines, and the entry-level compact hatchback will be lower than the Q4 e-tron, which can be understood as a current A3 pure electric model built on an electric platform.

Although fuel vehicles are still the main selling products, the electrification trend is obvious, coupled with the fact that major brands are gradually phasing out fuel vehicles, Audi will also take the lead in promoting electrification transformation with the help of the popularity of cash mainstream models, taking the lead from the domestic louder A4/A6 models to promote the growth of Audi electric car sales.

Although expensive as a first-tier luxury brand, Audi's attraction in the electric market is very limited. According to the data, the global sales of Audi electric vehicles in 2022 was 118200, an increase of 44.3% over the same period last year, of which the delivery of pure electric vehicles in Huazhong increased by only 9.8%, which is a far cry from the mainstream independent brands and new car-building forces in the domestic car market. In the domestic market, Audi's electric products include Q4 e-tron, e-tron, Q2L e-tron, Q5 e-tron and other models, with a price range of 200000-500000 yuan, but the model sales performance is very mediocre.

Whether in the domestic or global market, Audi regards electric vehicles as the future development direction, and has begun to speed up, but consumers may not care about these plans, and only product power can determine the market. I don't know when Audi will come up with products that really attract users, and maybe even it's not sure where its future will go.
