On March 24, the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration announced that Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. and Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. in accordance with the requirements of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products and the measures for the implementation of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products, put on record the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, and plan to recall the following vehicles.

1. Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. since May 11, 2023, recalled some imported G-class cars from May 25, 2018 to April 6, 2022, a total of 17966 vehicles. The reason for the recall is that some vehicles within the scope of the recall have contact and friction between the front axle wire harness and the engine oil auxiliary cooler, and after long-term use of the vehicle, the front axle wire harness is worn, affecting the function of the anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronically controlled vehicle stable driving system (ESP), increasing the risk of accidents and causing safety risks. In view of the above defects, Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. will, through Mercedes-Benz authorized dealers, repair the damaged front axle wiring harness and install harness protection bushings for vehicles in the recall area free of charge, in order to eliminate safety risks.

Second, Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. since April 17, 2023, recalled some imported S-class cars from August 12, 2020 to March 10, 2021, a total of 7 cars. The recall is due to the lack of adhesion of the front cover of the skylight between the front windshield and the panoramic skylight within the scope of this recall, which may result in partial or complete separation of the front cover of the skylight from the vehicle, increasing the risk of accidents and / or injuries to other road users, resulting in safety risks. In view of the above defects, Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. will, through authorized dealers, replace the front cover of panoramic skylights for vehicles within the recall range free of charge, in order to eliminate safety risks.

3. Beijing Mercedes-Benz Motor Co., Ltd. will recall a total of 548 domestic E-Class and GLC cars manufactured from September 21, 2022 to September 26, 2022. The reason for the recall is that some vehicles within the scope of this recall due to incorrect resistors installed on the host circuit board of the multimedia system (MBUX), the MBUX host is unable to provide accurate vehicle location when starting the vehicle at low temperature, and when triggering an emergency call, it may lead to delay in accident rescue and safety risks. In view of the above defects, Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. will replace MBUX mainframe units for vehicles within the recall range free of charge through authorized dealers to eliminate safety risks.

In terms of the number of recalls, the cumulative number of Mercedes-Benz recalls is 18521 vehicles. At the same time, this is also the third recall of Mercedes-Benz this year. Mercedes-Benz launched the recall on February 10 and February 23 this year respectively, with a total of 39554 vehicles before and after three recalls. Auto Industry concern believes that car startup recalls to a certain extent reflect the responsible attitude and sense of responsibility of car companies, but frequent recalls will not only make car owners question the brand, but also affect the brand image and reputation of car companies.

The 2022 domestic passenger car recall list previously counted by Automotive Industry concern showed that the number of Mercedes-Benz brand recalls in 2022 was 567545, ranking third on the list. Although the number of Mercedes-Benz recalls decreased compared with the previous year, the number of recalls ranked first in the list, with 21 recalls in the whole year.
