Huawei will continue to participate in the development and cooperation of the company's own brand models as an important supplier; the total investment of the project will be adjusted from 925 million yuan to 1.233 billion yuan. This also represents the end of the joint development model between the two sides and the change to the parts supplier model.

Huawei responded to the changes in the cooperation between the two sides: AH8, as an independent high-end model of GAC Eian, is an important strategic model in GAC Ean model planning, carrying the upward mission of the Eian brand. After full communication and comprehensive judgment according to the actual situation, GAC and Huawei are adjusted to be independently developed by EA. after this adjustment, Huawei will continue to participate in the development and cooperation of GAC GROUP's own brand models as an important supplier.

According to relevant data, the cooperation between the two sides was confirmed in July 2021, when GAC GROUP announced that the company's board of directors had examined and passed the "bill on the GAC Eian and Huawei (AH8 model) project". Agree to the implementation of the wholly-owned subsidiary Guangzhou Auto Ean New Energy vehicle Co., Ltd. and Huawei (AH8 model) project. According to the earlier announcement, the two sides will build a new generation of smart vehicle digital platform based on Guangzhou Automobile GEP3.0 chassis platform and Huawei CCA (Computing and Communication Architecture), equipped with Huawei HI full-stack smart car solution, and jointly define and jointly develop a series of smart vehicles for the future, with the first model being medium and large pure electric SUV. With a total investment of 788 million yuan, it is planned to mass production by the end of 2023, and the project will be funded by GAC GROUP.

GAC GROUP is also very optimistic about the earlier cooperation between the two sides. Gu Huinan, general manager of GAC Ean, has revealed that the luxury high-end brand created by GAC Ean and Huawei will launch three series of products, and the first model, AH8, will be launched in 2023. In addition, there are two models based on the same platform of AH8, one is the MPV, the other is the high-end sedan.

However, it is worth noting that at the Hangzhou summit in August last year, Xiao Yong, deputy general manager of GAC Ean, said in an interview: Huawei is a relatively large supplier, its products may be better, but the price is not controlled. If GAC Aian wants to cooperate with Huawei, it will find that it basically has no bargaining power. Subsequently, there was news in the market that the cooperation between the two sides had been suspended, and the two sides had a relationship between parts supply and procurement. However, in response to the rumor at that time, the relevant person in charge of GAC Ean responded: "it is not true, our cooperation project with Huawei is still in normal progress."

It is understood that the cooperation model between automobile companies and Huawei is mainly divided into parts supplier model, Huawei Inside model and Huawei smart selection model. As the name implies, the parts supplier model is that Huawei provides standardized parts to manufacturers. At present, many car companies and Huawei have adopted this cooperation model. For example: Geely Motor, Great Wall Motor, BYD and other car companies. Huawei Inside model is Huawei and auto companies jointly define and jointly develop smart cars, equipped with Huawei's full-stack smart car solutions. In addition to GAC, Huawei is also joined by Changan Automobile and BAIC. Two car companies have also launched models in partnership with Huawei, namely the Avita 11 Huawei HI version and the polar fox Alpha S Huawei HI version. Huawei smart car selection model, that is, Huawei not only provides intelligent solutions to participate in product styling design, interior design, but also responsible for model marketing and terminal sales. The most typical is the cooperation between Huawei and Cyrus. Judging from the three cooperation models, Huawei is the most involved in Huawei's smart selection model.

In fact, it is normal for the changes in the cooperation between the two sides. After all, in addition to technical factors, GAC's own profitability is not strong, so it needs to have stronger control and voice over the supply chain, so as to improve the profitability of automobile manufacturing. According to relevant data, GAC GROUP's gross profit margin has been below 10% in recent years, with a gross profit margin of 6.9% in 2019, 6.47% in 2020, 7.92% in 2021 and 6.12% in 2022.
