Data show that in March 2023, BYD sold 207100 new energy vehicles, an increase of 97.45 percent over the same period last year, of which 206100 were passenger vehicles, an increase of 97.52 percent over the same period last year. This is the first time that BYD has sold more than 200000 vehicles this year.

Official figures show that BYD sold 103400 DM models and 102700 EV models in March, respectively. In terms of brands, BYD Dynasty and Ocean.com sold a total of 195700 vehicles, up 87.6 per cent from a year earlier. Tengli brand sales were 10300, up 42 per cent from a month earlier. Among them, the Tengli D9 is the only model on sale under the Tengli brand, that is to say, the Tencent D9 sold 10300 vehicles in March. So far, BYD has not officially announced the sales of specific models.

According to the analysis of global automakers' sales last year, if BYD can reach 3.6 million vehicles this year, it means that BYD has a chance to become one of the top 10 automakers in the world. As a reference, Honda sold 3.74 million vehicles in 2022, ranking sixth in the global auto sales list, followed by Ford with 3.67 million vehicles, ranking seventh in the global auto sales list.

By the end of March, BYD's cumulative sales of new energy vehicles in the first three months of this year were 552100, an increase of 92.81% over the same period last year, of which 547900 were passenger vehicles, an increase of 92.43% over the same period last year. According to the guaranteed sales target of 3 million vehicles, BYD has achieved 18.40% of its sales target of 3 million vehicles in the first three months, meaning that BYD will need to sell 2.4521 million vehicles in the next nine months, with an average monthly sales of 272500 vehicles, which may not be difficult for BYD to achieve the target.

For comparison, sales of new energy vehicles in 2022 were 6.49 million, an increase of nearly 31% over the same period last year. However, as new energy vehicles maintain rapid growth, it is difficult for the overall passenger car market to maintain high growth, which also means that the traditional fuel vehicle market will shrink further. Wang Chuanfu said: "the timetable for the full electrification of domestic cars is in advance, the process is accelerating, faster than expected, and the industry should be fully anticipated and prepared."
