On April 12, Dongfeng Honda HR-V was officially launched, and a total of new models were launched with a price range of-ten thousand yuan. According to previous reports, Dongfeng Honda HR-V and GAC Honda ZR-V are sister models to each other, positioning compact SUV. As a reference, GAC Honda ZR-V is priced in the range of 159,900 - 228,900 yuan.

Dongfeng Honda HR-V and GAC Honda ZR-V are sister models to each other, but there are obvious differences in appearance design between the two models. In terms of appearance, Dongfeng Honda HR-V adopts the latest design style of Honda family. The front face adopts inverted trapezoidal front grille, and the interior is decorated with blackened honeycomb elements. The split-type headlight group on both sides of the grille adopts narrow and long shape, with a silver chrome decoration in the middle, with three-stage air intake below. The bottom air intake grille adopts C-shaped guide grooves on both sides to create strong aggressiveness. It is worth mentioning that the Honda logo is no longer placed on the front grille, but moved to the part where it meets the hood to make the vehicle look more recognizable.

Black trim strips are used on the sides of the car body, around the windows and side skirts, making the overall look more sporty. At the rear of the car, the new car adopts the popular through-type tail lamp group, which echoes the headlight group. This point is obviously different from GAC Honda ZR-V. GAC Honda ZR-V does not adopt through-type lamp group, but adopts separate design form, but looks more rounded, and the L-shaped tail lamp belt also echoes the front LED daytime running lamp. In addition, the rear surround of the new car also adopts a large area of black panel, with a total of two exhaust layouts on both sides below (high-equipped models), creating a sporty atmosphere at the rear of the car.

In terms of size, Dongfeng Honda HR-V has a length, width and height of 4569/1840/1621mm and a wheelbase of 2655mm, between XR-V and CR-V. For reference, the length, width and height of GAC Honda ZR-V are 4568/1840/1621mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2655mm, which is between Binzhi and Haoying.

In terms of interior decoration, the new car still adopts Honda family design style. The through-type air conditioner outlet is very classic with suspended central control screen. It is equipped with full LCD instrument and suspended central control screen. The air conditioner outlet is also integrated into the mesh panel. The overall design is relatively traditional. It is worth mentioning that in addition to the fuel version, Dongfeng Honda HR-V will also offer a hybrid version, which is expected to adopt a push-button shifting mechanism.

In terms of power, the new car is equipped with a 1.5T in-line four-cylinder engine of model L15CG. The maximum power of the engine is 134kW (182 hp) and the maximum torque is 240 N·m. The transmission system will match the CVT continuously variable transmission.

In contrast, GAC Honda's new car is progressing more rapidly. On August 30,2022, GAC Honda ZR-V was launched on the market. Three new models were launched, with the price range of RMB 159,900 - 195,900 yuan. On February 20,2023, GAC Honda ZR-V was launched in e:HEV, and 4 new models were launched, with the price range of 179,900 - 228,900 yuan.

As a compact SUV, GAC Honda ZR-V's competitors include GAC Toyota Fenglanda and FAW Toyota Karola Sharp. According to the data, 94464 vehicles were sold in 2022, while 82342 vehicles were sold in Carola. In contrast, GAC Honda ZR-V sales are very ordinary, three months after listing sales of 3037 vehicles, monthly sales basically maintained at around 1,000 vehicles. As a sister model, Dongfeng Honda HR-V sales are expected to be relatively average, and may affect the market performance of GAC Honda ZR-V.

After entering 2023, Honda presents a depressed performance posture in the Chinese market. Data show that Honda's cumulative sales of terminal vehicles in China from January to March were 220,400 vehicles, down 37.7% year-on-year, among which GAC Honda's sales fell 36.2% year-on-year to 119,700 vehicles, and Dongfeng Honda fell 39.4% year-on-year to 10.24 vehicles. Honda's terminal sales in China have fallen year-on-year for seven consecutive months, according to Auto Industry Concern.
