Data show that GAC-Toyota's sales in 2021 and 2022 were 828000 and 1.005 million respectively, up 8.23% and 21.38% respectively over the same period last year. For GAC-Honda, even under the impact of the epidemic, GAC-Honda's 2020 sales increased by 2.65% to 805800 vehicles. But since then, GAC-Honda's sales began to decline, with sales of 780300 in 2021 and 741800 in 2022. It fell 3.17% and 4.93% respectively from the same period last year.

However, in 2023, GAC "Liangtian" encountered a sales "Waterloo". The latest data show that GAC's cumulative sales of "Liangtian" from January to March in 2023 were 369500 vehicles, down 19.58% from the same period last year, with GAC Honda's cumulative sales of 149500 vehicles, down 29.63% from the same period last year, and GAC Toyota's 220000 vehicles, down 10.93% from the same period last year. In contrast, GAC GROUP's own brand sales have seen a sharp increase, with GAC Ean's cumulative sales of 78300 vehicles in the first three months of 2023, an increase of 74.53% over the same period last year.

As for the decline in Japanese car sales, Cui Dongshu, secretary general of the Federation of passengers, previously said that the decline in sales is mainly related to the future development trend of the car market, and the market share of fuel vehicles is shrinking sharply. Independent brands rely on new energy vehicles to accelerate to seize part of the market share of joint venture brands, while Japanese car companies are slow to transform in the field of new energy vehicles. Under the wave of new energy, Japanese car companies are in a weak position in the market.

Or affected by GAC's "Waterloo" sales of "Liangtian", GAC GROUP's cumulative sales in the first three months of 2023 were only 539900 vehicles, down 11.23% from the same period last year. According to the previous plan, GAC GROUP's annual sales target will achieve 10% year-on-year growth in 2023, which also means that if the sales of GAC GROUP's joint venture brands cannot pick up, more attention may need to be paid to independent brands in order to achieve the goal.
