At the Shanghai International Auto Show, Dongfeng Peugeot 408X officially launched four new models with a price range of 145700-179700 yuan.

As a Peugeot global blockbuster strategic model, the new car has been unveiled many times before, based on the Citroen Versailles C5X common platform EMP2 V3, positioning medium-sized cars, all equipped with 1.6T+8AT powertrain.

In terms of appearance, the new car is based on the Peugeot family-style Lion Soul aesthetic design language, the front face uses a borderless matrix intake grille, the interior is embellished with dotted elements, the new lion logo is suspended in the center of the grille, there is a "408X" logo above the hood, and the iconic LED daytime driving lights on both sides extend to the lower air intake, with the lower three-stage lower enclosure design and black decoration filling. Make the front face look dynamic and highly recognizable.

On the side of the body, the new car is designed in a cross-border style, and the low-lying body is matched with a higher ground clearance to further enhance the sense of movement of the new car. in addition, the new car has a black anti-friction material around the body and the eyebrows, and the height is between the car and the SUV. The rear part of the car, the huge slip-back tail and hatchback tail door look very smooth, the taillight group is also different from the new 408, the taillight is narrower and longer and the end is not bifurcated, but the internal three diagonal structure is consistent with the new 408.

In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car is 4687/1859/1478mm, the wheelbase is 2787mm, and the positioning sedan type SUV is obviously different from the new 408 model (positioning car). In contrast, the new car is shorter than the compact car Peugeot 408 45mm, and the wheelbase exceeds the medium-sized Citroen Versailles C5X.

Interior, the overall layout of the new car is still a strong French style, the car uses a large number of straight lines to create a strong mecha wind, bringing a strong sense of locomotive texture, with double touch screen design of the central control and 10.25inch 3D color LCD combination instrument, 10.25inch central control screen and 9.7inch i-Toggles HD touch auxiliary screen, a strong sense of technology. The lower shift area is replaced with the latest electronic joystick design to free up more storage space in the car.

In terms of power, the new car is equipped with a 1.6T engine with a maximum power of 129 kilowatts and a peak torque of 250 Nm. In terms of transmission, it matches the 8AT gearbox.

In addition to the 408X listing, Dongfeng Peugeot also unveiled a concept car, the Peugeot INCEPTION, on the opening day of the Shanghai auto show, which is based on the BEV-by-Design platform and will be the vision for the future development of the Peugeot brand. From the appearance of the concept car, the front bumper uses Peugeot brand-new headlight design language to integrate the entire front grille and the iconic lion claw lamp, while in the center is the Peugeot lion sign with 3D luminous effect, the overall shape is very amazing. The rear part of the car echoes with the front, and the lion claw lights on both sides extend infinitely into the car, creating a sci-fi visual effect. In terms of power, the comprehensive power of the new car is close to 500kW, and zero hundred accelerates in less than 3 seconds.

In terms of overall data, the market share of French brands in the domestic market has been gradually diluted in recent years. Data show that French brands sold 178000 vehicles in China in 2022, an increase of 47.1% over the same period last year, with a market share of only 0.8%. However, DPCA does not intend to give up this market. at present, Citroen mainly relies on its Peugeot and Citroen brands to maintain the share of French brands in the domestic market. Official figures show that DPCA sold a total of 127000 vehicles in 2022, an increase of 30% over the same period last year, but there is still a long way to go from its annual sales target of 150000. Although the DPCA market is not performing well, it is slowly recovering the market.

Dongfeng Group participated in the implementation of car purchase subsidy policy in March, and its Dongfeng Citroen, Dongfeng Peugeot, Dongfeng Nissan, Dongfeng Honda, Dongfeng Fengshen and other brands all started car purchase subsidy policies, among which Citroen C6 models had the greatest discount, falling as high as 90,000 yuan. the price reduction led to a sharp rise in Citroen C6 sales. Dongfeng Citroen C6 model sales in March was 1259, an increase of 436% over the same period last year, exceeding the total sales in the past eight months. The surge of Citroen C6 also directly led to the growth of Citroen car sales. DPCA sold 10100 cars in March, up 86.2 per cent from the previous month.

DPCA has previously set an annual sales target of 155000 in 2023, and sales may be further boosted as more products are rejuvenated and launched. As the new car has just appeared on the market, whether models such as Dongfeng Peugeot 408X can become the pillar of DPCA in the future, we will give priority to the reaction of consumers.

At the auto show, Lin Jiesheng, global CEO of Peugeot brand, said that 100% electrification of all models will be realized by 2025.
