FAW-Volkswagen ID.7 VIZZION

FAW-Volkswagen ID.7 VIZZION is Volkswagen's sixth pure electric global model and is seen as Passat's successor. The new car is based on the MEB pure electric platform and locates the pure electric medium-sized sedan. The domestic version will be produced by FAW-Volkswagen Foshan MEB factory and is expected to go on sale in the second half of this year. After the launch, it will compete with popular models such as BYD Seal, Tesla Model 3 and Xiaopeng P7i.

In terms of appearance, it is different from the existing model style of the Volkswagen ID family, the new car uses a simple style, the front face is designed with a closed intake grille, and a penetrating LED light belt is used to connect the headlights on both sides, with the brand luminous LOGO logo in the middle. It is expected that after mass production, it may be sister models with FAW-Volkswagen ID.7 VIZZION.

According to officials, the pure electric models currently on sale by SAIC-Volkswagen include ID.4X, ID.6X and ID.3, while FAW-Volkswagen pure electric models include ID.4CROZZ and ID.6CROZZ, which are sister models to ID.4X and ID.6X respectively. Data show that in 2022, sales of ID.4 X are 35201; ID.4 CROZZ is 46261; ID.6 CROZZ is 25968; ID.6 X is 11396; while monthly sales of SAIC-Volkswagen's unique model, ID.3, are basically around 2000.

According to the analysis of Volkswagen brand sales, new car traffic insurance data show that the total annual sales of new energy passenger vehicles in 2022 is 5.249 million, with a penetration rate of 25.5% in the narrow sense of the passenger car market. Among them, SAIC-Volkswagen new energy vehicles sold 88700 vehicles in the whole year; FAW-Volkswagen sold 84700 vehicles, which are almost the same, but there is a long way to go compared with BYD, Tesla and other new energy leading car companies. For comparison, BYD is 1.5832 million and Tesla is 441700.

In the past two days, officials have confirmed that they will invest about 1 billion euros to set up a new company in China, focusing on the R & D, innovation and procurement center of intelligent networked electric vehicles. The new company will be located in Hefei and the project name is "100%TechCo". It will cover vehicle development, parts development and procurement functions in the future. The company is expected to start operation in early 2024, when Volkswagen's product development cycle will gradually shorten by about 30%.

At this press conference, Volkswagen also unveiled Volkswagen ID.5 GTX and ID.BUZZ models. According to the plan, Volkswagen will launch 25 electric models by 2030, of which the ID.7 model will be one of ten electric vehicles that Volkswagen plans to launch globally by 2026.
