At the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show, the new Lincoln navigator officially made its debut and officially went on the market, with a total of three new models priced between 32.88 and 378800 yuan. As a replacement model, the new navigator upgrades the appearance and interior design, and offers both fuel version and hybrid version, which will compete with Volvo XC60, Cadillac XT5, Lexus NX and other models after launch.
In terms of appearance, the brand-new navigator uses the latest family-style design language, the fuel version and the hybrid version are distinguished, the front face continues to use large-size intake grille, the interior is decorated with luminous lattice ornaments, the penetrating LED belt passes through the grille and the pixel-level adaptive headlights on both sides are integrated, and the interior of the lower intake grille is filled with brown mesh structure. In addition, the new Voyager hybrid version offers two styles of front / rear bumpers, while the logo and body logo are integrated with blue elements to highlight the hybrid identity.
On the side of the body, the lines of the new car do not change much, but the overall look is more textured. The A-column, rearview mirror, wheel rim, spoiler, roof and side window strips are smoked and blackened, and hidden door handles are used. In the rear part, the taillight group adopts a penetrating design, the lamp belt has the word "LINCOLN" in the middle, the blue NAUTILUS mark is used, and the rear bumper also adopts a new style, which is different from the fuel version, and the exhaust under the rear bumper is changed to a hidden exhaust layout. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4908/1952/1717mm, and the wheelbase is 2900mm. In contrast, the interior of the brand-new navigator has been greatly modified, using a new embracing styling style, and a double 23.6-inch embracing 4K curved screen is designed at the front of the center console, which can be used as an instrument display screen. There is no need to look down at the instrument during driving. The design of high resolution, high curvature and high brightness ensures that the instrument information is clear enough. With the 11.1-inch suspended central control screen and the new double-spoke multi-function steering wheel, the visual effect is very impressive. Of course, the new car does not completely abandon the physical buttons, and the buttons can also be seen under the central control screen, which is convenient for drivers to operate to a certain extent.
In the power part, the new car provides two power options: the fuel version and the hybrid version. The fuel version is equipped with a 2.0T engine with a maximum power of 190kW, a peak torque of 390Nm and a matching 8-gear automatic transmission. As for the hybrid version, according to the information declared by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, it is also equipped with a 2.0T engine, the maximum power 209kW, motor parameters are temporarily unknown.
Navigator is the second domestic model of Changan Lincoln, which is positioned between adventurers and fliers. The main competitors are Cadillac CT5 (27.97-361700 yuan), Volvo XC60 (37.79-474900 yuan) and Lexus NX (31.88-548800 yuan). Among them, Cadillac XT5 and Volvo XC60 are not small in the end market, and the pressure faced by brand-new navigators is not small. From the perspective of brand awareness, Lincoln and Cadillac, Lexus, Volvo and other brands do not have much advantage.
According to foreign media reports, Ford plans to import its redesigned Lincoln Nautilus (navigator) into the US market from China next year, which will be Ford's first imported model from China.
Nautilus (navigator), formerly known as MKX, is a multi-functional model launched by Lincoln after Aviator, which combines the comfort of the car with the spacious cockpit and trunk space of the SUV. In October 2015, Lincoln MKX was introduced to China for sale, with 2.0T and 2.7T engines priced between 44.98 and 659800 yuan. At the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show, Lincoln made his debut with a mid-term revamped MKX and renamed it Nautilus. In April 2018, Lincoln named Nautilus as a navigator in Chinese. In January 2021, Lincoln Navigator officially made China, becoming Lincoln's third domestic model in China.
In addition to the new navigator, Changan Lincoln also debuted the new adventurer at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show and announced its pre-price of 24.58-345800 yuan. As a medium-term revamped model, the new adventurer uses the latest family design language of the Lincoln brand, the larger intake grille is decorated with lattice ornaments, the through LED daytime driving lights connect the headlights on both sides, and the style around the front is also very sharp, with vents on both sides.
In terms of interior decoration, the new adventurer has also subverted the market's perception of American cars, with the through central control screen extending to the front of the co-driver, but the central control screen is not connected to the LCD dashboard, which is different from the Lincoln Z. At the same time, the steering wheel shape, shift area and air conditioning system operating area of the new adventurer are highly consistent with those of Lincoln Z. On the power side, the new adventurer continues to use 2.0T+8AT powertrain, maximum power 190kW, maximum torque 395N ·m, and two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive options.
After entering the Chinese market for the second time in the form of imports in 2014, Lincoln ranked among the top 10 luxury brands in just two years, once becoming the fastest-growing luxury car brand in the country. Lincoln sold 61761 vehicles in China in 2020, the highest since Lincoln entered China, mainly because it partnered with Changan Automobile to realize localization in 2020, launching two models, the adventurer and the pilot.
After several years of fast-growing "highlights", Lincoln's performance in China began to "stall", with Lincoln's annual sales of 79300 vehicles in 2022, down 13.4 per cent from the same period a year earlier.
