Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. have filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration in accordance with the requirements of the regulations on the Administration of recall of defective Automobile products and the measures for the implementation of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products.

Since May 29th, a total of 1104622 imported Model S, Model X, Model 3 and domestic Model 3 and Model Y vehicles with production dates from January 12, 2019 to April 24, 2023 have been recalled.

The reason for the recall is that the vehicles within the scope of the recall do not allow the driver to choose the energy recovery braking strategy; at the same time, it may not provide enough reminders for the driver to step on the acceleration pedal for a long time. The superposition of the above factors may increase the probability of mistakenly stepping on the acceleration pedal for a long time, may increase the risk of collision, and there are hidden dangers.

It should be noted that the recall was carried out in the context of the defect investigation initiated by the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration.

Affected by the investigation, Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. plan to push newly developed features for vehicles within the scope of the recall through car remote upgrade (OTA) technology, in order to reduce the risk of collision caused by excessive speed caused by stepping on the accelerator pedal for a long time. Functions include: (1) on vehicles that do not have the option of energy recovery braking strength, provide options to allow drivers to select energy recovery braking strength; (2) adjust the factory default state of the vehicle energy recovery braking strategy; and (3) issue a reminder when the driver presses the acceleration pedal deeply for a long time.

This is the second time that Tesla has conducted a recall in China this year. On March 24, Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd. expanded the recall of 2649 imported Model S electric vehicles from October 14, 2015 to August 23, 2020. this recall belongs to the expanded recall of "Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd., Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. recalled some imported Model S, imported and domestic Model 3 electric vehicles" issued on December 31, 2021.

With the hot market of new energy vehicles, Tesla's sales in the domestic market are rising rapidly, but at the same time, Tesla's product recall has also reached a certain height. According to the 2022 domestic passenger car recall list compiled by Automotive Industry concern, Tesla conducted a total of six recalls in 2022, with a total of 791502 recalls, although the number of recalls was not the largest on the list. however, the number of recalls ranks first in the list of domestic recalls in 2022.

Judging from the number of this latest recall, the number of this recall is quite large, involving 1104622 vehicles, which has exceeded the total number of recalls for the whole of last year. However, different from other car companies, the vehicles recalled by Tesla can be upgraded by remote upgrade (OTA) technology for the recalled vehicles, and users can complete the recall without going to the store.
