According to the announcement, brilliance BMW and BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. in accordance with the requirements of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products and the measures for the implementation of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products, put on record the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, recalling the following vehicles from June 2, 2023.

Brilliance BMW Co., Ltd. recalls 42 domestic i3 electric vehicles from May 3, 2022 to April 12, 2023, and 47 domestic iX3 electric vehicles from September 22, 2021 to March 2, 2023.

BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. recalls 5 i4 electric vehicles with production date from December 15, 2021 to October 6, 2022, 1 i7 electric vehicle with production date of September 20, 2022, and 4 iX electric vehicles with production date from February 4, 2022 to September 27, 2022.

The reason for the recall is that the cable bridge of the high-voltage battery monitoring electronic equipment (CSC) was not properly locked in place within the scope of this recall, and in extreme cases, CSC could not effectively monitor the high-voltage battery, and implemented failure protection measures to stop the power output of the high-voltage battery, resulting in power interruption and safety risks to the moving vehicle. In view of the above defects, brilliance BMW Co., Ltd. and BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. will replace high-voltage battery monitoring electronic equipment for vehicles within the scope of the recall free of charge to eliminate safety risks.

Judging from the above recall announcement, the number of models recalled this time is not very large, but all are electric vehicles. According to previous statistics of Automotive Industry concern, in the first quarter of this year, the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration issued a total of 32 car recall announcements, involving 17 car brands, with a total recall of more than 650000 vehicles, among which the BMW brand beat all the brands. it topped the list of domestic recalls from January to March 2023.

In the first quarter of this year, BMW conducted three recalls and recalled a total of 266400 vehicles, including domestic 325Li, domestic i3, imported i4, imported 425i, iX3, i4, iX, imported 7 series and domestic 5 series. BMW recalled a total of 94000 vehicles on February 24. The models involved include iX3 electric vehicles, domestic i3 and i4 electric vehicles, iX electric vehicles, domestic i3 electric vehicles, iX3 electric vehicles and imported 7 series electric vehicles, covering many kinds of electric vehicles. The industry believes that with the increase of penetration, the recall of new energy vehicles will become the new normal.
