"Discovery 06" is a new compact SUV under the Chery brand, focusing on the "light off-road" market. The new car is expected to be launched this year and a hybrid model will be launched at the same time, which will compete with the Harvard Dog.

In terms of appearance, the new car basically restores the design style of the concept car, with a large intake grille on the front face, a dot matrix layout inside, a large-size CHERY letter LOGO embedded in the middle of the grille, a popular split headlamp group design on both sides, and a penetrating LED light belt on the top, which looks highly recognizable but also has great visual impact.

On the side of the body, the new car uses a large number of straight lines and blackened design, the lines are tough, the roof lines show a downward trend from the A column, and equipped with roof luggage rack. The new car is also equipped with hidden door handles. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4538/1898/1680mm and the wheelbase is 2672mm. In the rear part, the new car taillight adopts through-type taillight group, which echoes with the front face, and the lower part is surrounded and inlaid with two sides of exhaust, which is very dynamic.

In the interior part, the new car adopts a minimalist design concept, equipped with large-size central control LCD screen and air conditioning outlets with rounded rectangles on both sides, as well as a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, which makes the car look both high-tech and hard-core.

In terms of power, the new car is equipped with 1.6TGDI+7DCT Kunpeng power and hybrid system, in which the fuel version is equipped with Kunpeng power 1.6TGDI engine, and the hybrid model is equipped with Chery's fifth generation ACTECO 1.5TGDI engine + third-gear DHT powertrain. However, so far, the official has not released the detailed power parameters, whether the final need to be officially announced shall prevail.

In addition to this Chery "Exploration 06" new car, Chery will also launch more than 20 plug-in new cars in the future. On the night of 2023 Chery New Energy, Li Xueyong, deputy general manager of Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., general manager of Chery Automobile Marketing Company and general manager of Jetway Motor, said that more than 20 products will be equipped with Chery's newly developed Kunpeng super performance hybrid C-DM system, including Ruihu 9 C-DM, TJ-1 C-DM, Xingtuo Yaoguang C-DM and Jetta Traveler C-DM. The above models will go on sale from 2023 to 2024.

According to the official website, Chery's products include the Ruihu series, the irize series and Oumengda three major product lines, with the positioning of small SUV, compact SUV and medium-sized SUV, that is to say, from small SUV to medium-sized SUV, Chery has a corresponding product layout. In the past 2022, only Ruihu series was the main sales force of Chery Automobile. New car traffic insurance data show that Chery sold 461908 vehicles in 2022, of which Ruihu 8 sold 107277 vehicles, accounting for 23.22% of the total sales, and Ruihu 7 sold 50874 vehicles, accounting for 11.01% of the total sales. But that has changed since 2023.

In September 2022, Arize 8 went on the market with a price range of 10.89-132900 yuan. The whole system is equipped with 1.6 T Kunpeng Power. Take the retail sales of Carriage Association as an example. From January to May 2023, Chery sold a total of 112967 vehicles, of which 28516 in May. Among the subdivided models, Ruihu 8 still sold as high as 10095 in May, while Ruihu 7 was replaced by Erize 8. 5133; the third place is Ruihu 7 with 4961.

As for Discovery 06, as a brand-new category of Chery, can it become a popular model after it comes on the market? On the whole, the new car is quite bright in appearance and design, and it is quite off-road as a whole. It is expected that the starting price of the new car may be around 100000 yuan, but whether it will eventually become a popular model remains to be studied.
