The Lamborghini internal combustion engine model was sold out before the end of production and the luxury carmaker is transitioning to a pure hybrid lineup, the German newspaper Le Monde quoted Lamborghini's chief executive as saying.

Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann said orders for Lamborghini Hurac á n and Urus fuel models were fully booked. According to Winkelmann, Lamborghini's fuel models will be replaced by plug-in hybrids in 2024 and 2025, and the latest plug-in hybrid model, the Revuelto, will be sold out by the end of 2025.

According to Lamborghini, Hurac á n is expected to launch a plug-in hybrid model by the end of 2024, while Urus plans to switch to a plug-in hybrid system in the first half of 2024. It is understood that the Lamborghini Urus will cancel the power system of the fuel V8 engine in 2024 and will use the V8 engine with a plug-in hybrid system, which is the second PHEV model after the Lamborghini Revuelto, and the third hybrid model is expected to be released in 2024.

In July 2022, Lamborghini's chief executive said Lamborghini would increase its investment plan to at least 1.8 billion euros from 1.5 billion euros. The first all-electric car, expected in 2028, will be positioned as a 2x2 Grand Tourer sports car to complement Lamborghini's current product line and compete with the Porsche 911 electric version in the future. As the Lamborghini Revuelto has just been launched, a new electric supercar will not be available soon, and the Revuelto is expected to be replaced by 2030.

Lamborghini official said that the cost of meeting emission standards for large-engine internal combustion engines is already extremely high, and that the new emission standards will impose a greater burden when the new emission standards are issued in 2025. Even if the European Union does not have a law banning the sale of internal combustion engine cars by 2035, it will adopt a high tax policy. At the same time, hybrid models are only a compromise for existing models, and the future of automobile production will be battery-powered electric vehicles.

According to the financial report, Lamborghini's turnover in the first quarter of 2023 was 728 million euros, an increase of 22.8 percent over the same period last year, a record high; operating profit rose to 260 million euros from 178 million euros in the same period last year, also a record high; profit margins reached 35.7 percent. In terms of sales, Lamborghini delivered 2623 new cars in the first quarter of this year, the best in the same period in history, up 84 from 2539 in the same period last year.
