The Mazda CX-9 was launched in 2006, and the second generation, built on the Skyactiv platform and powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, output 250HP and maximum torque 433Nm, made its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2015. It is understood that the design was inspired by Mazda's brand-new design concept at that time. Mazda once said that the CX-9 combines "utility, performance, design and high-end", making it a "very powerful family car".

According to the plan, the Mazda CX-90 will be launched on the domestic market in November this year and compete with SAIC-Volkswagen Tuen, FAW-Volkswagen range, Ford Explorer, Buick Anke and other models. Mazda has previously announced the North American market price of 2024 CX-90 models, starting at $39595, or about 273700 yuan, excluding transportation costs.

In terms of appearance, the new car continues to adopt the Mazda family design style, with a shield-shaped large intake grille on the front face and a blackened straight waterfall in the middle of the net design, the headlight group area is very small, connected with chromium plating decoration, it appears to be more three-dimensional and stylish, the lower edge uses similar "flattening" treatment, the structure of LED headlights is complex, and the interior is equipped with L-type LED daytime running lights with segmented design.

The side of the body looks quite slender, the D-column of the new car is designed with a wide and large inclination angle, and the front fender is decorated with the logo of a six-cylinder engine. in addition, the new car is also decorated with chrome plating for the details such as the window, roof luggage rack, front wing and so on. In the rear part of the car, the whole rear part looks quite simple, but it does not seem to be ordinary. The LED taillights outline the dynamic lines, and the rear surround is decorated with silver chrome plating to decorate with rich layers.

In terms of size, as Mazda's new flagship SUV,CX-90, its length, width and height are 5110/1994/1732mm and its wheelbase is 3119mm, which is Mazda's largest mass-produced SUV so far.

In terms of interior decoration, the CX-90 adopts the same design concept as the outside of the car, with a full LCD dashboard and a 12.3inch floating central control screen, and a head-up display system above the dashboard. At the same time, the car retains a large number of physical buttons, including independent air-conditioning panels and seat heating and ventilation buttons, while the multimedia system has an independent knob control area behind the gearbox gear. In addition, CX-90 uses a compact electronic lever to retain knobs and other physical operation buttons.

In terms of power, the new car is equipped with a 3.3L in-line six-cylinder turbocharged engine with a maximum power of 340hp and a peak torque of 500Nm, matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission; in addition, the CX-90 also offers a plug-in hybrid version of a 2.5L four-cylinder engine and motor with a maximum power of 323hp and a maximum torque of 500Nm.

In fact, the reason for the suspension of production of the Mazda CX-9 is similar to that of the CX-8 previously reported in the media, and CX-80 will replace its market position later. According to the plan, the Mazda seven-seat SUV CX-8 is expected to stop production in Japan in August this year, after which it will be replaced by the newly launched CX-80.

As early as October 2021, Mazda announced that it would launch five models of CX-50, CX-60/CX-70, CX-80 and CX- 90 by 2023, of which CX-90 is expected to be introduced and produced by Changan Mazda this year, but industry insiders believe that as a new flagship model of Mazda, the price of CX-90 may not be low, and the domestic CX-90 is expected to start selling at about 300000 yuan.
