The Galaxy L6, the second model of Geely Galaxy's new energy series, was released on July 6. In terms of appearance, Geely Galaxy L6 uses a family design language similar to Galaxy L7, the front cover area is mainly closed, with broken-line style through LED daytime driving lights, the design of the lower fog lamp area also further enriches the three-dimensional feeling of the front face. At the same time, the addition of vertical lights on both sides also improves the recognition of the vehicle. Geely Galaxy LOGO fits in the front hatch position, which increases the visual freshness and separates the car from Geely, Geometry and other brands.

From the side, the new car has a slippery back shape, a hidden door handle and low wind resistance wheels, which makes the car look very sporty. The rear part of the car, Geely Galaxy L6 adopts through-type rear light group, the shape of the tail light group also has a high degree of recognition, and the lower part is surrounded by silver decorative strips to embellish. In terms of size, the length, width and height of Galaxy L6 is 4782/1875/1489mm, the wheelbase is 2752mm, and the overall size is close to that of Biadiqin PLUS DM-i.

In terms of interior decoration, with reference to previous espionage photos, Galaxy L6 is expected to adopt an interior layout similar to Galaxy L7, including vertical suspension central control screen, shifter mechanism, four-spoke double color multi-function steering wheel and other elements. a certain number of physical keys are retained at the bottom of the central control screen to facilitate operation while driving.

According to the latest declaration information, Geely Galaxy L6 will be equipped with a plug-in hybrid system similar to Galaxy L7, which is composed of Raytheon 1.5TD hybrid special engine (BHE15-BFZ), 3-gear variable frequency electric drive DHT Pro (hybrid special gearbox), battery pack and other components. 9.11kwh battery pack models have a pure electric life of 48km, 18.7kwh and 19.09kwh battery pack models have a pure electric range of 105km Under the condition of power deficit, the comprehensive fuel consumption of 100 kilometers is 4.55L.

At present, BYD is the largest plug-in hybrid model manufacturer in China, with cumulative sales of 631400 plug-in products in the first half of the year, an increase of 100.66% over the same period last year. Faced with the great potential of the plug-in market, automakers such as Geely and Great Wall have been unable to contain themselves and have announced the launch of new products in the hybrid field.

In February this year, Geely launched a new mid-and high-end new energy series, Geely Galaxy, and plans to launch seven new models within two years, four of which belong to the smart hybrid L series, based on e-CMA architecture, covering A0 to B-class hybrid products.

On May 31, Geely Galaxy L7 officially went on sale, with a price range of 13.87 yuan to 173700 yuan. As the first model of Geely's new mid-and high-end new energy series, the Galaxy L7 is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system composed of a 1.5T engine and a 3-gear DHT gearbox, with a comprehensive range of 1370km under CLTC operating conditions, and competitors lock in models such as the BYD Song PLUS DM-i.

At present, Geely's new energy brands include Geometry, Polar Krypton, Polar Star and so on, of which Geometry Brands are aimed at the middle and low end market of less than 150000 yuan, while Polar Krypton and Polar Star are aimed at the high-end luxury market of more than 300000 yuan. The launch of the Galaxy series is mainly to make up for the gap in the mainstream Volkswagen hybrid market of 15-300000 yuan.

Geely Automobile Group CEO Gan Jiayue said that the Galaxy L7 "has no competition in the A-level SUV" and will become the first choice for 200000-yuan intelligent electric mixers. Lin Jie, vice president of Geely Automobile Group, said that the sales goal of each product of the Galaxy series is to become the top three in the market segment, and Geometry plus Galaxy's new energy product series will cover 65 per cent of the future new energy vehicle market.

On July 6th, Geely released sales figures for June and the first half of 2023: passenger car sales in June were 137897, up about 9 per cent from a year earlier and about 15 per cent month-on-month. Cumulative sales from January to June were 694045, an increase of more than 13% over the same period last year.

In June, Geely's new energy penetration rate was about 28%: polar krypton delivered 10620, up about 147% from a year earlier; Geely Galaxy L7 sold 9673 in the first month. For new energy, in June, new energy (including Geely, Lecker, polar krypton and Ruilan) sold 38572 vehicles, up about 30% from a year earlier and about 43% month-on-month. From January to June, new energy sold a total of 157889 vehicles, an increase of about 44% over the same period last year.

At present, the new energy mixing market has changed, and the intensity of market competition is different from that in the past. It remains to be seen who will emerge as a new force and establish new advantages in the industry.
